Anyone seen this at a decent price anywhere?

I'm not far from the end of season 2 and am hooked! The cheapest I have seen it online is about €50 :(

fatal, why don't you pay for it? dubmick, you might wait a little while if you can as season 1+2 are both on Amazon.co.uk for £17.97 so maybe the price might drop.

    Ruu

It was only released on the 7th of February 2007 in the UK so it might be a good while before it comes down in price. I think sendit.com have series one and two both priced at £17.99 (no postage) if anyone is looking for them on the cheap.

Blahdvd.com work out 50c cheaper than sendit at €26.49 each for series 1 or 2 here
Best I've seen for series 3 is €46.49 from play.com here

Region one has been out longer. Get a region free dvd player and if you source it, it should be a lot cheaper. Chcek out amazon and ebay

playusa.com and movietyme.com both charging in the region of £40-50 Sterling for the R1 version.

I'm going to get it myself soon and will probably go for the one on play.com as it's the cheapest right now. Not looking too much cheaper on eBay either. I'd imagine it'll be quite a while before the price drops a good bit too.

It's the kind of series that's worth €40 though.

I have the first season and found it a bit depressing really and I couldt really warm to any of the characters.I may give it another viewing as I still enkoyed it but not as much as I thought I would.

Correct me if I'm wrong but nearly every show is around 1 hour long give or take a minute or two

You're right. Nearly every episode hits around the 60min mark including credits but not including ads. The finales are generally about 10mins longer again. So S1's 13 episodes are, length wise, equivalent to 18 or so of a regular series.

Quality wise, there's no competition :)

365 megs for an hour long show is far from perfect

and The Wire when originally broadcast had no ad breaks

I burn about 4-5 episodes onto each DVD(about 850megs each when burnt) and view them all on a 42 inch tv and to be honest its the same quality as watching it on sky digital.
Its certainly not worth paying 40 euros for if you can get it for great quality and at the same time for free

its really sad that they are not cheaper ..as i would have bought them aswell ..but i took the free route

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

they should sell the full series for €4.99 each

how much cheaper do you actually want them to be? €25 is cheap is it not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,484 ✭✭✭✭Stephen

I bought seasons 1 and 2 from a bargain alert posted here too. Excellent show :)
They're excellent value for the price, especially when you compare it to what they charge for the likes of the Sopranos or Lost on DVD.

Series 1 and 2 are at the same price now from play.com and series 1 is in stock here

    Season 3 is £29.99 from choicesuk.com here
But you can use the code SPECIAL for a 10% discount until midnight 01/04
If you order 1 item P+P is a bit steep @ £3 but this is the charge per complete order so if you pick up a few more deals it cancels it out.
Season 2 is £15.99 and Season 1 is £17.49 before discount

Season 3 is £29.99 at Play.com (free delivery isn't it?) and Season 1 and 2 are £16.99 each.

Yip, Season 3 is €46.49 from play.com who have not really passed on the currently improved exchange rate between €\£. If you use the discount for choicesuk.com it works out at £29.99 even with P+P and some credit cards have a better exchange rate than play.com.

that file size fed through a divx dvd upscaler will be the same if not better than a standard tv broadcast

Picked up season 3(region1) for about £28/€41 delivered fromhttp://http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=734826...took about 8 days to get here.
Well worth it though...only started season 1 about a week ago and its a great series so far...on season 2 episode 2 atm and Mcnulty>Reyals:D.

This is the best price i found for all 3 seasons(all region1)http://www9.cd-wow.com/detail_results_14.php?product_code=1127762..but i had to cancel after 2 weeks of no dispatch..and the bad feedback from other forums about them.
