Has anyone been playing around with the flash gallery ???
Been trying to integrate it into my website and so far have
    http://www.sebastiandooris.com

using php includes I created the menu and styles template then

    -Create gallery in lightroom
-Upload resource and bin folders to a sub directory of the gallery
    -Run command "ln -s ../gallery.template.php index.php"

gallery.template.php is just a php file with includes to start html, apply styles via css, Display menu,Embed Flash and close html etc...

A long way to go eh?

It gets the job done if you're not after anything spectacular, but for sure it could be better.

Maybe not what you are looking for, but personally I hate seeing flash based galleries. Some are very very good, but more arent. It's mainly loading time that I despise. With a flash gallery you have to wait until the flash applet (or whatever the tech term is) to finish loading before you can actually do anything. With html/php based galleries you can start clicking as soon as things start appearing.

Also the images are pixelating horribly. Actually, thats only the slideshow view, which is default, and people may not realise it can be changed.

I have seen on some galleries/blogs a gallery software which loads all the thumbnails then when you click the thumbnail brings the image forward and loads it flash style. I can't find one right now, so can't link you to it....

    edit...

    Have a look at Paddy@CIRL's blog/gallery/homepage http://www.pmcgphotos.com/

Was that an example of a bad site as I find very confusing and user unfriendly

    - Some images are linked to flash loaders which are slow for the image size
    - Areas of the site with no information such as Saving J
    - The automotive area direclty links photo's with any sort of navagation

    not my cup of tea

have played around with pure HTML/css gallerys before but had a look at flash as it's within lightroom.

It wasnt one I considered to be particularly bad. The site is unfinished as it is.

Im glad you see my point about the flash ;)

Hey is your main page supposed to be completely empty apart from the text links at the top?

I like the galleries. The smaller images - the default view - do pixelate though. Not bad at all for a batched job though!

Oh and the bridesmaid in the first wedding is a good mate of mine :D
