www.uncompany.com has them and also has full metal ones.
The ABS ones are good though so i wouldnt rule them out.
They can also be got on ehobby asia or through BFSL at about €100

At the moment there are no electric macs available. Tokyo Marui are rumored to be releasing one. But god knows when that'll be. So its gas only. Two companies manufacture them. HFC and KWA (Also known as KSC) one made by KSC/KWA is better.

If you're new to airsoft I'd suggest not buying one. I have one myself. And although they're great when they function, they're quite hard to maintain. After a week you'll be wondering why it's not firing anymore.

And looking at pictures of Laura Croft toys is soooo much better. It would make you look like one of those nerds that collect and preserve star wars memorabilia. :D

ive been using and repairing airsoft springers for the last 12 years or so, is there much to the maintainance of a Mac.
also how solid are the metal ones?
im basically looking for a good small Full Auto smg/machine pistol for general purpose use. not anything as big/awkard as a MP5 ect, maybe a Glock 18C or Beretta 93R, if needs be, but i would really want an Ingram.
has anyone any experiance of either of the above two?
    all advice appreciated.

full auto pistols are pointless if your looking to skirmish.
And so is the ingram in fairness as mag capacity is rubbish.
The mp5k seems to be the smallest practical one of the bunch.

Theres nothing akward about the mp5k in my opinion, i used one as a secondary at preator using an M15A4 as my main AEG and it didnt get in the way at all.

well i wont be doing a whole lot of skirmishing with it, its just for short range target/practical/plinking.
how low is the mag cap?

Completely different league to springers I'm afraid.

It has to be stripped and oiled on a regular basis. Much like its real life counterpart.
Not too much oil or it'll get gunky. Not too little oil or parts will start to rub. This is dangerous as it has such a high rate of fire that if things are rubbing they'll get destroyed.

The hop up rubber is known to soak up the oil and expand. Clogging up the gun. So you have to be really safe to keep the oil away from it. Same with the rubber on the magazine.

If you use anything but extremely high quality bbs, it will jam up. If you use anything but extremely high quality gas, it wont blowback properly.
Chances are, even if you use high quality bbs and decent gas, it'll jam up at some point anyway.

Every time you put the magazine in you have to make sure its on an open bolt. If its not, the internals of the gun can be damaged. This can be redtified with a magnesium bolt. But it'll cost you.

For target practice I'd recommend a springer over it. It's really that inaccurate. You'd be lucky to be able to hit a barn with the thing from ten feet.

The magazine holds just about 50 rounds. Which empties in 2 and a half to 3 seconds.

I'm having a weird issue with mine where bbs are being fired out of the ejection port. It used to be half the mag. Have it down to about three now. So I can live with it.

All these issues will be the same whether you use the abs plastic version or get a full metal kit for it.
The ABS plastic looks like metal anyway. The magazine is full metal so it gives it a good bit of weight.

After all that, I do love my Mac. It's only really a "fun" piece though. I wouldnt ever want to rely on it or have to use it as my main airsoft device. If I did, I think it would drive me insane.

If you don't want something "big" and want to do the whole target practice thing, I'd suggest a decent gas pistol.

if your looking for a decent gas pistol, id definiately recommend the hfc m190 :D
(the one i got has full auto too, ehobby dont seem to have any at the moment but theyll probably have them back)

just got one last week and love it, havent skirmished it yet, but for target practice at home, its great, just dont buy those cheap targets they have on ehobby, i destroyed them already

Might aswell post this here seeing as we are talking about gas guns and now mentioning problems. I got a custom KSC M93 from Red Wolf ages ago but my bro dropped the mag (15 mins after it came out of it's box) and it never held gas since. Gas just comes straight back out through the top of the mag... I'm just thinking, could it be something as simple as taking apart the valve assembly (where the hammer strikes) oiling it up and putting it back?

if its broken already, I dont think you have much to lose ;)

I had the exact same problem with mine. I think the mag was just too cold. It would happen the first two attempts at filling it. On the third go it would then fill.

Now its back to filling normally thankfully.
