I am amazed to discover that not only is European LocationFree software now available for Mac (miglia.com) but that a) I never noticed and b) no-one is renarking upon it. Anyone using it? I just bought it the other night but will have to wait until Saturday as am in France before pairing it with my Base Station.

Well, it's rediculously overpriced for a start.

35GBP? Could certainly be a lot cheaper but I guess that's Sony for you.

Well you didn't read my post properly then.

It's about the new LocationFree *software* now available for Mac for those who already own the hardware. I'm not discussing the base station nor its price, simply the new software, which we have been waiting for for ages. The software has been available for PCs since its inception but for Mac only in the USA and Japan for their base stations. Finally Miglia has made it available for European Macs.

I'm surprised that this has gone unnoticed by almost all of the major Mac discussion sites.

how does that compare price and feature wise with a slingbox?

As I don't have a slingbox, I can't comment. But I'm home, have registered the mac with my base station and it's up and running......however, the quality is nowhere near comparable to that achieved with either my PC or my PSP both of which run LocationFree software. A tad disappointed for the moment.

Have to admit, it's working really well now. At home, I have flawless reception (in bed for example) -seems it needs a 'settling-in period' for some reason. At the moment I'm watching TV3 in Dublin, using a Nokia phone as modem with a 3 dataSIM, from my Base Station in Belfast.
