Funny happenings in my house :(

    Hello all..

I'm looking for a little feedback on a strange thing which happened in our house. First of all, I feel it is only fair to say from the start that I would be quite skeptical in some respects, but open to persuasion in others, if that makes sense.

Ok, here goes.. We are the first people to live in our house. No deaths in the family since we moved in, nothing like that. I've had two strange things happen since moving in. First of all, we have a baby. One night when he was still sharing our room, he was crying, and I was in the process of waking up, I was more awake than asleep. My husband was beside me. Before I could get out of bed, I very clearly heard a rather abrupt and impatient "Shhh!!!" which seemed to come from the foot of the bed. I felt awake, but I still pretty much convinced myself I dreamed it. The problem is that my husband claims to have heard it, too. He was definitely more asleep than me, though.

A couple of weeks after, my garage light switched itself off. I stepped out with an armful of clothes and no free hand to turn it off, upon going back immediately after putting the clothes on a chair in the next room, the light was off. Switch was down, not a blown bulb or anything like that.

Does this sound like there could be something in our home? I'm not at all comfortable with that thought, by the way :) When I say I'm skeptical, I mean that something has to be blatantly obvious before I'll have faith in it. When I say I'm still open to persuasion, that is because I had a very vivid dream a few months after my grandfather died where he told me not to worry about him because he was happy and had 'crossed over', and I truly do believe that was him. I just don't use language like 'crossed over'. Is there anything I can do to reassure myself that we're the only ones in our home, or would I be better off trying to forget anything ever happened?

Thanks for reading this far, sorry for the life story!

Ok I'll quote myself from another thread here:

I'd 99% say (presuming a paranormal phenomenon) that its Poltergeist activity.

Now saying that I dont belive there is such a thing as a Poltergeist but rather that it is a discription of a type of activity and a cause of that activity.

Poltergeist activity is caused by a build up of energy (possible PK/PT) and acts randomly due to the fact its not being carried out by a conscious being or a personality. People always assume its only Poltergeist activity if a child, usually a girl and usually between the age of 9 and 15. The reasoning for this is that its childs unstable energy and hormones which lead to the phenomenon. Personally I dont think thats the end of it. I've come across it with a guy in his 20s, a woman in her 40s and have read about it all across the board of ages, genders and situations.

Stress of moving job or home can cause it, pregnancy, menopause and even non-negative situations like a sexual attraction/tension can cause Poltergeist activity.

It can be a case of just balancing yourself and your life a bit to calm these phenomenon down or putting a stop to them altogether.

Its no surprise to me that so much of this stuff goes on but having 3 threads about it in the last few weeks should let people see that there are people all over Ireland going through similar situations.

what would you suggest as the source 6th, the baby? It's hardly either parent is it ? sounds similar to the Galway case WRT the baby? if it is Poltergeist activity what is the advice for this person, we can assume that it will eventually go away?

It can as easily be a parent or parents. Stress can cause stuff like this. Think about the discussion we had in the Oval .... here its being done unconsciously.

It will die down but anything to put the mids of those living with it is a good thing. The blessing of a house in cases like this can have a great placebo effect.

Equally taking time as a family to discuss it, and taking time to relax can really help. As a dad of a toddler with another on the way I know all too well the stresses.

I thought that in many many cases this only clears things up for a couple of weeks then it starts back worse than before,
so if somone creates this unconsciously can they be thought to undo it consciously ? if so how would they go about it, is there a book to learn some techniques, I'm just asking as if this happened to me this is the sort of information I'd be looking for i.e help./ selfhelp

Sure thats when you call me around for an enormous fee! ...Joke :D

Undoing it is just a case of destressing. Once you have yourself relaxed it will clear up ... unless, and I havent the time to go right into this, the energy has developed a 'self'.

I know this is very out there even by my standards but really the thing to do take time for yourself and relax. Its rare that you'll find activity like this going on in a house where everything is HunkyDory.

Sorry for the delay in responding, folks.

Really interesting theory that it is driven by the inhabitants of the house rather than any sort of spirit - that's a theory I'm comfortable with! Oddly enough, I feel much better thinking it's something we created rather than an echo of a person past.. That thought alone calms my mind, it makes sense. After all, I'm a moody cow, probably the perfect instigator ;) I'll take a wait and see approach.. I was dancing around the idea of getting the house blessed, but we'll see if anything strange happens again.

Thanks again, folks, you may not believe it, but you really calmed me down :)

Glad to hear it. Like I said that should do the trick. Stresses can snowball and cause these things, leading to more stress until you are burnt out and theres no energy left to fuel the activity.

A blessing is nice btw if you or your family are in anyway religious - clears the air.

I'd be ever so slightly religious at the back of it all, but I'd say it would stress my husband out even more LOL ;)

For some reason the spirit activity often gets worse after a priest blessing it, spirits, poltergeists or whatever often throw religious objects around, and in some cases the house activity gets worse after a blessing even when the family is religious.

From the cases I've read and dozens of people I've spoken to who have gotten blessings done it is rare that the activity continues and very VERY rare that it gets worse. I'm not a religious person as such but blessings work.

Remeber 'Poltergeist' is not a discription of an entity its a discription of an activity.
