What are your thoughts as Dubai as a summer holiday destination.
We would be travelling about june augast time. Sure laying around a pool for a the odd day would be nice but id also be interested to do other things like quad biking in the desert etc.

edit can someone edit the title to say Dubai?

The heat is unbearable during the summer months. In July and August it can get up to 45C (I've been there when it was 49C ).

A lot of the ex-pats leave during these months if possible. As it's off-season the hotels will be cheap - but you won't be able to leave them without melting !!

I'd recommend going in October/November instead.

Agreed. I really would avoid it around that time.

Definately better to go there in the winter. I was there at Christmas a few years ago and it was still roasting hot.

I go to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Muscat most June or Julys.
I tend to go in July as I work for an airline and I have a fair chance of actually getting on on standby during these months.
It is hot but I just have a week there with family just to laze about by the pool and read some books and for that the weather is fine. I certainly would not recommend that time of year for dune bashing on quads or going for walks.
