    Hi All,

I'm just about to but Lightroom, but not sure whether to download or buy the box. Is there any real difference? If I download will I still be able to install and activate on a few different PCs?

    Thanks

I suppose it depends if you want to wait a few days for the box to arrive.

I'm not sure you'd be able to do multiple activations either way. Worth checking into that one further before splashing the cash...

I doubt it... don't you have to do an activation transfer or something similar if you want to move an installed adobe product to another machine?

Even Microsoft allows you to activate Windows on two machines!
I've had a look on Adobe.com, but I can't find anything in relation to multiple activations. I just want to install in on one of my work PCs and my home laptop

Actually, I just found this on Adobe.com....
If you own, or are the primary user of a single-user Adobe branded or Macromedia branded product that is installed on a computer at work, you can also install and use the software on one secondary computer of the same platform at home or on a portable computer. However, you may not run the software simultaneously on both the primary and secondary computers.

so it looks like I can install on both machines legally...happy days. Now to give someone 210 quid for a serial number. Just doesn't seem right :D

Just because you've got the same copy of Windows on 2 pc's, doesn't mean you have 2 legal copies... To be a bit pedantic about it of course...

It does actually. Microsoft allow and support this and it looks like Adobe do too...

Are you sure about this ?
I was checking into getting a legit copy of MS Office from work to use at home . Found they used to allow this, but not since Office 97 :(

depends on the type of license you buy.. I buy volume licensing at work (with office) and this DOES allow for a home pc as well as a work one. That's office 2003, haven't bought any of the fancy schmancy new ones yet.
