It was the programme with the illusionist Keith Barry, I think. They had a little bit about the young ghost of Harriot that died while sliding down the banisters and said the library beside the staircase was haunted by her. Keith wrote 'Harriot' in chalk on the door while 5 or 6 people stood in a semicircle outside the door holding hands. They then heard noises, and tried to open the door and got a fright to see things had been moved. They went inside and sat at the table, more things began to move and they did spirit writing and ouija. Then Keith explained what his theories of ghosts are. They are like echoes of the past according to him.

Ok sounds great but having someone who by the definition of their job tricks people they have taken away from it.

Where they trying to show it was a trick (ala Derren Brown) or show it as being genuine?

I suppose there was some trickery involved, fun to watch though. Looks like a nice castle.

I cought the end of it. I was highly unimpressed
pictures jumping off the walls doors slamming HARRIET written on the wall in chalk Dead realatives speaking to the participants

In all fairness it was declared as trickery and psychology at the end al la Darren Brown.

So what would you all make of what was seen on the show..cards flying off a table, messages being written on slates, doors slamming & being pulled shut, pictures falling off the wall, the room being strewn around with toys & a spinning wheel spinning when they re-entered? All trickery?

I've been there 6 or 7 times now and even when its very active its never that active. Now thats not to say that all of it (or any) was faked but thats alot to have happening in the space of a day.

Of course I didnt see the show and am going by what I know and what you guys are saying.

just so you all know they were in a room called "the library" and said library has a secret exit in the bookcase . The fact that the presenter declared the entire show as illusion means

"RTE crew threw toys around the room, set the large top spinning wheel going on the table and slipped out the only other exit in the room"

Had it been done in the guise of a paranormal investigation id be very angry.

i saw most of it and i didnt like the end of it where he says that some people get scared at this sort of thing but his advise is dont be because afterall he is a illusionist,a magican,a charlatan(not sure how to spell that one) i dont understand how he managed to get the decesed relatives to talk to people, did he know the past of the people involved and thats how he made them believe it was thier deceased relatives communicating with them?was this the illusion here,if so it does`nt look like much of an amazing illusion to me ,more of a bull**** fake medium to me.

I assume either that they were plants or most likely what alot of fakes do is offer information that is relevant to almost anyone in the room.

Ie: I have contacted Harry.. (I have 3 dead Harry's in my family) so its obvious that someone in the room, in that sort of situation would apply what he has said to himself. Also from my experience and you can see this on Una Power, some psychics have a tendency to have a little banter before they "pick up on something" so they are relatively informed to make an estimated assumption of your mental state.

Ahh come on now. Did you see the writing? It was all so delibrately shakey and all the words were spelt right. I thought spirits were meant to be bad spellers. My guess was it was written already on a 'hidden' blackboard that appeard when the two were taken apart. The chalk sound was added for effect. The picture falling from the wal could have been a loose nail and a crew member bump the wall from the other side.

I can tell you one thing ... the walls in Charleville arent the type you can bump from the otherside ..... well, maybe with a car or a fat kid.

When I was first there, they used to have the fake wall that they moved in that Most Haunted episode, but that's long been removed.
