Looks very Steve Vai-ish. But very awesome.

    Great link Karl:D

There is a HUGE difference between a good and bad swirl. Ive seen guys who charge a coupe of hundred dollars and the results are terrible, all faded and washy. The best guys have it down to an art, with loads of different colours, special chemicals to keep the colours from mixing while they 'swirl' them looking for a good pattern, and big industrial tubs so they can change the angle of dip. Guys like Herc Fede manage to get the colours REALLY vibrant too, unlike a lot of the amatuer jobs.

But, i have to say, that guy got great results straight away. Excellent:D

You should post that over on Jemsite if it hasnt already

Well, the first available swirls on Ibanez guitars were Steve Vai's signiature models, so I can see how it can be Steve Vai-ish. ;)

Yeah, glad you like it. I find the worst swirls have too many colours though, I think the 2 colour swirls always look the best. I've seen some awesome black & red ones.

Of course, being art, its very subjective.

I love the zany DNA style swirls, im amazed how vibrant the colours are, but I can see how they would be OTT to others

As with any paintjob, the guitar would need a lot of prep before painting (including waterproofing), and wet sanding after, plus a professional laquer job to look the part.

Looks cool, its unreal the way the paint seems to stick to the guitar straight away, also looks surprisingly easy but i bet its a bollox to get it right.
