Ok guys I was missing for a few days whilst I went to Scotland to collect my new pets - so can anyone guess what I have got now???

    A few clues

    1) They are small
    2) They smell
    3) They chitter & chatter away to each other
    4) Not native to Scotland!

Whilst in Scotland I was also given a feather plucking blue & gold macaw & bought 3 adorable bunnies & a new male chinchilla - will post up photos in a day or 5!

Start guessing - I bet none of you will guess! I already have skunks, sugar gliders & iguanas amongst other critter so can you figure out what I got now??? They were rather EXPENSIVE!

They have ferrets in that pet shop near Dunnes Cornellscourt. They're pretty slick. I want to get one, if only to see who'd win in a fight between it and my sociopath cat. My money's on the cat; what she lacks in empathy she makes up for in sadism.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh well done :D but can you guess which species????

I already have a ferret did have 2 but Nibbler sadly died :( I am getting 2 new baby ferrets in about 12 weeks tho :D

Have no chipmunks at the moment but I will have some soon - white & brown ones.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Tallus I would love bush babies! My new macaw is very quite will take a lot of time to get her back to full health. I am planning on a breeding pair of green wing macaws in the future once the 20foot long aviary is built. We are in the process of opening a pet shop & small pet farm so my neighbours are well used to the noise! (I have full planning permission to open the shop etc)

bond where do u find the time to look after all your animals

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

I don't work so I has time to care for them and my parents and husband pick up any slack. Certainly it ain't a 1 person job.

For a moment there I thought you had got a King penguin. I am not too well up on monkeys but I am sure they are very interesting pets. Best of luck with her - him it etc.

You should get onto Nationwide on RTE - I am sure everyone would love to see a feature on your pets.

    Heya,

Wow Bond007 you have a lot of pets. Did you need any kind of paperwork to get your pets back from Scotland??
I was looking at some adorable bunnies that are available in the UK and was not sure if I can go over to bring them back to Ireland. Do you have any advice?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

You need an importers licence from the Dept of Argiculture. I have never been asked for it. If you import via Northern Ireland it is highly unlikely you will be questioned.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29 Bex01

Thanks for that bond. Is the Importers Licence hard to get? I'll have to look into it.
Do you get the ferry with your pets or fly them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

The licence is not hard to get, it just takes a fair amount of time.
I always use the ferry as no airline will carry them.

Cool, i didn't think anything like that was legal here!

How much did you pay for the marmoset?

They are way not cheep! & If I ever sell they will be around the 1k mark each! & they will only be sold in pairs..... So yep they cost a lot & are not an impulse buy pet! They need to be researched & you need to talk to breeders etc.

Yea understandably, not the type of pet to buy unless you can look after it, it's no ordinary household pet. I'll look into these maybe in the future, been reading about them today and they seem to be nice animals.

Next on my list is a cameleon, should be getting one next month! :)
