I think I know which one Irish eyes will be following, it will be interesting to see how Zimbabwe fare against a big team, and give us some ideas before Ireland have to play the Windies.

India are in the same boat as England, maybe in slightly worse considering Bangladesh were considered a group minnow. Could be a damned if they do, damned if they don't sort of game against Bermuda.

    No contest.

India will beat Bermuda comfortably. Windies are in-form and should beat Zim with ease.

Then again, this has been the World Cup for upsets.........

i have a sneaky feeling the windies game could be closer than some think, though i would expect them to win

I have a sneaky feeling that you're right mate.

When the Windies are having a good day they could beat anyone in the world, but they can be very fragile on a bad day.

I wonder which Windies team are going to show up today.

I would imagine Zimbs try their best to win today and bag 2 safe points, considering they are going to take on a very hurt Pakistan next.

India *should* win against Bermuda, but considering how they did against Bangladesh, and their "extremely consistent record of inconsistency", I am tempted to put a tenner on Bermuda! :D

It would be interesting to see if Dravid would select to bat first today if he wins the toss. He would want to post a massive score against Bermuda, but the pitch could support bowling, like against Bangladesh! Or would he figure out that he is not leading Australian/South African team, and play safe?

    I hope India wins! ;)

I'd be astounded if zim came close to winning. Having said that saturdays results have made almost anything look possible. But AFAIK it was 5-0 to the windies in the series they had last year. Should be the result Ireland are after.

Bermuda are probably the weakest side in the event. India will want to thrash them and will in all likelihood.

Loving this bank holiday of cricket :D, got the beer on chill.
India just lost to bangledesh, i wouldnt count bermuda out just yet ^^.

India has been to bat first on that pitch! darn, there goes the idea of 'posting a large total" down the drain! If Bangladesh keeps playing they way they did on Saturday, India is out of it next week!

I hope India makes it do Super 8, and Ireland - oh, then there would be war in this house!

Yeah India will win today, either that or none of the team wil lhave homes left when they go back. After losing to Bangladesh armed guards had to protect the houses of most of the players.

And yeah Windies will win a close game

Well I mean if a team cant score over 100 runs they dont stand much of a chance. 75 seems like bermudas par score.

Funny, I can't find any reference to that in the media, even after a lot of googling. There's only one source for that news, a website called 'DNAIndia - Daily News Analysis India', which looks like a anti-India propaganda machine, if you ask me!

I see parallels between what is happening here and the football WC in 2002 in Korea. Many of the bigger teams are seriously underperforming, a lot of it down(IMO) to the assumption that all they need to do is show up and that the real tournament starts next week. I think it would be good to see the minnows give the big guys a run for their money and even if they don't win, at the very least to stick it to the likes of Holding who claim they have no right to be there.

    India 1 down already! F*CK!!! 3/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

Shewag is in good form at last - three 4s one after another. 59/1 in 9.some overs!

    Good news from Sabina Park

Zimbabwe will bat first against West Indies after the hosts' skipper Brian Lara won the toss in Jamaica.

India 75/1 in 12 overs. Sehwag 50, and very uncomfortable looking Ganguli just got a life.

Wicket: 1st Zim wicket falls without scoring 0/1

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 545 ✭✭✭cgf

Wicket: 2nd Zim wicket falls. 2/2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

Sehwag on fire - sixes all over the place!

India 100/1 in 15.1 overs. Doing okay for the time being, as long as they can improve the run rate in next last 20 overs... 350 would be nice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

3rd Wicket down for Zim... looking good for Ireland :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 545 ✭✭✭cgf

Wicket: 3rd Zim wicket falls for 31 in 10th over.

    Sibanda, Kasteni & Chibhabha gone.

    Sehvag 100 of 81 balls - India 176/1, RR 6.29

    Another boundary!

    End of over 15 (1 run) - Zimbabwe 50/3 (RR: 3.33)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 545 ✭✭✭cgf

    Zim 59/4

    Matsikenyeri gone.

Without tempting fate, their main run scorers are gone. IF Taylor and Williams are bundled out soon they could be gone for <100

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

    12 overs since a boundary.

    Heh... then a 6.

    Zimbabwe 83/4 in the 27th.

I think I'll keep by gob shut :(

    End of over 27 (11 runs) - Zimbabwe 88/4 (RR: 3.25)

Finally the NTL subscribers get to see the game that matters :D

Edit: Zimbos seem to be making a minor recovery to get the score up to a somewhat-defendable position.

Williams and Chigumbura are playing a little gem.

Big Dwayne Leverock got big figures today.... a boundary short of a century. If they were figures for his batting, he'd be well pleased. Sadly, for him, they are his bowling figures! :D

Pretty smart catch in the slips for the 20-stoner though :D

The trends in all these games in Sabina are startling. First 20 overs are a 'mare for a batsmen. Then it levels out and its the bowling team under pressure. Quite amazing.

Zimbabwe get to 202/5 off 50 overs.

Fair play to them after being 2/2

Obviously it's better for Ireland for the Indies to win?

Sloppy fielding from the windies in what I saw. They'll be disappointed conceding over 200 I'd say, giving zim half a chance. Lets just hope gayle blasts them off.

I doubt that the Windies will collapse chasing 200. I also hope that Gayle carries his bat the whole way through the innings and gets a decent score.

At least then we'll be entertained :D.

Maybe they'll be done before the 40th over if Gayle goes on a flyer.

No I'm sure they will get there and with some ease in all likelihood. But for zim to only finish 5 down must be of some concern to them. I mean we even managed to bowl them out within the 50 overs.

If anything it bodes well for Ireland if they were to restrict the Windies to a total below 250.

They would feel pretty confident about chasing the score down if the Windies bowlers are slightly toothless.

for fridays game against the windies an awful lot will depend on the toss, if we win it and put them in we'll have a great chance of another win. if they
put us in we could struggle, especially as trent is only 50/50 for the game. hopefully the windies will win today and pakistan will do the same on wednesday meaning we'll be through anyway. then a win against the windies would be the icing on the cake and give us 2 points for the super eights, we'll beat england in the first game and then who knows!!

    Gayle cutting loose

3 x 6's in first 3 balls of an over....

    Windies 66-0 off 14
