I want to spend about E300 on a decent mens watch for work, anyone recommend a good place in Dublin? Or even any brand recommendations?

Careful.... some people on this board will tear you apart if you admit to spending more than a tenner on watch. "Sure they all tell the time fine, like!"

I don't know anything about quality timepieces but iBOOD.com often have seeming good deals on watches. (I know that's not 'in Dublin' but there you go).

    Examples: Here, here and here.

Any one know where you can source the Invicta Corduva

Be careful if ordering the Invicta Corduva there are many versions - see here , here and here.

The iBOOD one is the 'Corduva Chrono (model 2643)'. You can get it from amazon.com. [Linky]

Here's the end of a thread from a while ago. Nice watch from a shop in Dublin. Prolly a bit dear at €475 (if it's still at that price). [Linky]

I wouldn't buy in Dublin to be honest, they just add a huge mark up compared to country prices. I know they have more expensive overheads and all to cover... I would recommend buying a Rotary or a Citizen as both are made to last a lifetime. Both come with 10 year warranties. Rotary is a bit more expensive than Citizen but €300 would definitely get you a decent watch.

Its a pity the amazon site is the US one. I'd be stung for customs etc.

    Any European sites

Yeah I'd recommend getting it online. Seiko make good quality, nice watches. Can be on the expensive side though.

do you need a watch or a timepiece, wristwatch or pocket watch, windup automatic or quartz, some have calculators, slide rules etc, have temp baromators etc, 300 lids will get you a real good watch online,a quality 14kt or 18kt,solid gold one, google pmwf, see whats there, then go thro the links they have, check the european top 50 watch sites, read all the forum pages first, its there you will get to know the value of watches, the dealers to look out for etc, research research, i got a large solid silver key wound and set pocket watch running strong for 85 lids, stay away from ebay

Yeah that was me that posted although I`m still going to confession for spending such an amount on a watch:rolleyes:

Anyway I havent seen it at that price since unfortunately.I would really shop around though if you are going to buy instore.I found that there were huge differences in prices from store to store, even within the same chain of shops.

I also liked the look of that watch and considered buying it online. Then I seen it in the flesh in a jewellers and tried it on. It's about 1/2 an inch thick and weighs a ton.

I wouldn't take it if they were giving them away.

Just goes to show that you need to physically see and handle stuff before you part with your hard earned cash.
