Hi there a show on tomorrow afternoon I heard about, with Irish paranormal experts investigating a haunted house. I was aked to go on it but couldnt get time off the day it was being filmed. It's the real thing it should be very interesting for anyone interested in that sort of thing there all Irish experts too so it's geat to see RTE being open enough to put this on at last. Ibelieve its on around 4 in the afternoon.

Y'all right 6th, like the Site. Yes she's the expert in the studio but it's some psychic, a historian and a paranormal investigator investigating the house. And thanks for the welcome mate, the spooky underwear two are back!!

    Is this for Seioge&O'Sea?

Yes they asked me to do the investigation but it was too short notice i couldnt get the time off work, there's a psychic i never heard of and the head of Paranormal Ireland I think doing the investigation, I don't know either of them.

Yep, same people found me through monkeyfudge and asked me to do it but was too short notice. They will be doing more stuff so you never know Imp - we could be doing work together in the future ;)

I'm more into ritual end of things, I wouldnt really have the interest to look for hauntinggs etc but would go along for the crack sometime for sure ( and help you investigate Ladybird an Sensitive S :D )

Okay, first off I have to say that its great that RTE are putting this subject out there and making it accessable. Some will say (you know who you are ;)) that they are jumping on the popularity bandwagon but what does the motivation matter once the end result is the same?

The Paranormal Investigator was Cathy Crinion of IUFOPRA who has years of experience - I cant think of a group that are going longer?

Anyway I was let down by this 12 minute slot, it was not an investigation but a human interest story. Maybe too much to expect but none of the 3 experts who visited the house got anymore than 2 minutes of talk time. Of course the "sufferer" deserves the spotlight in a case like this as she was good enough to talk publicly. Mysteria did a good job to make the woman feel good about herself by stating that she believes the woman is psychic and meant for a path of helping others.

My problem is that people who may be suffering in silence who watch this programme will not see what exactly is done and what results are achieved.

I dont mean results as in proof of ghosts but it was not made clear as to whether the house has now been clear of activity. Also my work in advertising gives me the insight to know that people wont be able to relate to this woman as people have difficulting believing that they are 'special' as it was made out this woman is.

Regular people need to know that this type of thing happens to regular people everyday of every week of every month etc.

They also need to know that groups who come to them are not there to use them for research but to genuinely help them.

Just my opinion and analysis of course.

Sadly, i couldnt see it, but it's nice to see the paranormal scene properly taking off in Ireland now. It was kind of somewhat slow when I started with the PRAI about 2.5 years ago, but it does seem that it's all becoming more mainstram, though naturally, Ireland has some catching up to do compared to the UK. I do hope that more stuff like this gets developed though.

Its hardly that its just taking off in Ireland, I mean RTE have done other programmes over the years. Plus I think the Uk isnt the best model to follow as its over run with rumours of frauds - basically I think the UK is over saturated with this stuff and suffering because of it.

There are 4 more segments to be done in this show and seeing as Mysteria said she gets calls from an average of 10 homes a week they may well have enough material for hundreds more 12 minute slots (or a least a dozen decent hour long shows :D).

I can transfere the show to DVD and maybe with monkeyfudges help I can get it online ... I mean it was so short it wont take up much space on my hosting!

You could always just split it in 2 and put the 2 halves on YouTube as well ;)

Thanks though :) I'd be interested in seeing it...

I didn't catch the mediums name who was on it but I kinda doubt someone who sits there for a few minutes and then says the spirits are gone. I'm gonna try and find out a bit more about how it was made. usually if its 10 minutes on air, theres a few hours of tape on the video editing floor. Mysteria was consultant parapsychologist with IUFOPRA when some guy called Pat delaney ran it, before Kathys time , the UPRI guys were involved who wrote The Conspiracy of Silence. I'm trying to contatact a pal who'd know more about it and I'll let you know :)

    Hi Folks,

Just want to say that RTE were filming the investigation from 11am to 7pm, it's really sad whenyou know that most of it is on the cutting room floor...............but the upside is that at least it seemed to be taken seriously and maybe it will be an open door for things to come............roll on Ireland's Most haunted!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

Hopefully it won't be as "entertaining" as Most Haunted is, and will be a bit more serious...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

    Oh its definately not entertaining.

I agree entertainment is not on the agenda, however, RTE are not known for that anyway! On the other hand, at least the presenters are at least pretending to take it seriously!!!!! They will have to get home owners that don't look like their nuts also!!!!

Ah in fairness I thought the home owner was the most genuine thing about the show. I loved when the camera caught O'Shea with a look of "WTF?" on his face, staring at the camera.

You were asked to do that show too, same as me 6th, and didn't you say you couldnt make it either? I'm trying to see it in a positive light. Why are we Irish such begrudgers? At least RTE has got a couple of people who know what their doing, they are letting the public know that stuff like this can happen to anyone. Never heard of the medium, she looked as if she didnt know anything. I did'nt think the two women from the houses looked like nuts either. They can't do a decent job in 10 minutes, even half an hour would give people a chance to learn more about paranormal methods and subjects but at least its a start. Oh and by the way I think a group called Spectrum was the first paranormal investigation group here, led by a guy called Owen McQuail ( not sure of the spelling).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

Oh I am not begrudging at all. As I said above Cathy the investigator is experienced and very good - the show didnt get that across, Sandra did a good job making the owner of the house feel better - but the show didnt give Sandra the credit for her years of experience as a 'serious researcher'.

The show was poorly done and took away from the situation itself. As I said earlier its good that shows are being done and put out there but no one can say it was well done.

Not calling you a begrudger 6th I just meant it could've been you or me on that show and we'd have no control or idea of what would go out live. And then see people criticise it, a lot of them used to think most haunted was real but the RTE one isn't a setup so it wasnt entertaining and I agree with a lot of what's been said. Did anyone see the 2nd one last Friday I only got the last few minutes, theres another one this Friday they said.

Just want to say that the third house that was investigated was great .... even the "Ghost" was well done!!! Maybe this is one of those shows that get better each week!!!!!!!::D

Can't believe I missed it. Where was it and what sort of ghost ptolemy?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 ptolemy

they re-enacted a ghost scene, but it was well done. :D

Yes Imprezza, I can confirm that Owen McQuail's Spectrum group were around back in the seventies, investigating the paranormal, UFO's etc. I was a member of the group for a short while. We used to meet regularly in Glasnevin in Dublin.
