Freaky happenings in my house

My cousin swears our house is haunted. She said stuff has been moved and she's woken up thinking someone was in the room and that. I never believe her, but tonight I heard something say my name THREE times. In a weird voice, I thought it was her and called back and it called again. I ran downstairs to see if it was my Gran calling but wasn't then this whoosh sound went through the room. I was so scared, rang my cousin and was getting really worked up and upset. I'm ok now, but has anyone any ideas on this??

Why is it they always say it 3 times?

Stoner, in your office I got that name 3 times.

Stevenmu, in the dungeon of Charleville I got 'Pryor' 3 times.

I've had plenty of incidents with names and its always three times?

Lil Kitten any chance of a bit more detail, like, in what way was the voice weird? I'm presuming it was hard to distinguish just how close this voise came froma nd did it have an almost breathless quality to it?

I'd suspect the actual house has little or nothing to do with it so dont get caught up in that side of things. Drop me a pm if you want an opinion but dont want to give any particular details on an open forum.

6th I never thought of that before but loads of times when I've had experiences or mates told me about hearing a voice calling a name or saying a word it is almost always 3 times.maybe we could get some theories in on this one?

Ever notice its always louder or more urgent on the 3rd time? Maybe there is a time delay that they dont realise and they are píssed off with no response to the first 2 calls? - Thats a very basic explaination of it from my view.

i'd strongly suggest you get the house blessed by a priest or have a professional psychic do a clearance you should also try find out the history of the house and who lived in it in the past.

It's not an old house. My great grandad and my grandad died there. Only one family lived in it.

Voice wasn't spooky in a stereotype ghost ooooooh way. It was sinister. Second time was a high pitched one, like as if a girl was putting on a ghost voice and last one was like creeky and scary. Wasn't a call, but was loud enough. Didn't know where it was coming from but was kinda beside me at the same time. Very strange and unnerving.

Is this the first time you've had an experience like this, kitten, or have you ever had any other experiences you couldnt explain? Anyone else ever see or hear something in the house, sounds like possible paranormal activity to me. Did anyone close to you die recently?

I WISH! No, my gran is 91, and was reading teh paper downstairs minding her business. I rang cousin, who lives with us and she was out (I actually knew that, just rang on off off chance that she was messing) so it was just me in the landing and all doors closed.

No, no one has died recently. My cousin says stuff has been moved and sometimes we both imagine someone in the room at night which results in stuff being thrown at shadows when I'm half asleep

More developments, more furniture being moved and things going missing. Was looking for pizza takeaway leaflet last month, and searched high and low, lifted up stuff on the bed and checked under it and everything. Sat down and went online and was thinking about the menu and got urge to look sideways and fcuk me, it was right there looking at me on a pile of towels!!! Maybe a coincidence I dont know.

Then was lying in bed, head kinda propped up on my arm and I could hear weird, breathless whispering (like Elvish from LOTR) in my ear, from what seemed to be coming from under me (the pillow) and no other direction in the room. Very scary.

My roomie used to sleep in my bed but was too scared after seeing what she thought was image of person in doorway and feeling choked (?!). I am a vivid sleeper anyway and thrash about, but found myself, in that bed, seeing things and throwing things at imaginary threats in a semi conscious state. Might be a connection???

I'd say there is a connection alright, 6th may offer later that it could be your energy causing it all.

Never heard such voices myself, but this is the first I've heard of the 3 times before, I've read a decent bit on the subject and the 3 times things is not working for me.

But maybe is it just names?

three is weird though. a few years back we had a bout of paranormal actvity in our house and at one stage my wife, who was in the house with our then 10 year old son (who was fast asleep at this stage) heard her name called three times in our bedroom. I was gigging and when I got home the light was on in the room but annie was sleeping in the kids room. didnt find out until the next day what all the kerfuffle had been about.

I dont know how relevant this is but I recently did Reiki 2 course and my Reiki MT has told us that when calling out to angels, guides etc to call their name 3 times as they are 3 dimensions removed from us. Perhaps it is the same from the other side, they might hope that you physically hear them, but dont expect it, so say your name 3 times with the same reason I would call 3 times. In the hope that they will get your attention subtly, but for whatever reason you physically heard them.

Keep thinking I'm being attacked when I'm asleep, and wake up shouting and throwing my bed covers at whatever is there and saying there's a ghost and it's blue from what I recall (??) .... I don't think I can sleep in that bed anymore, it's getting terrifying. Even if it is all in my head, it's too freaky.

On the three subject, one of the best teachers I had in school mentioned tha saying something three times tends to reinforce very well. I know from my own experience working in sales that getting an agreement three times really seems to help close a deal. Perhaps saying something three times helps reinforce saying something a forth time is just getting to the nagging stage.

Face man, that's alot of "3" facts but to be honest you could do the same with 4, 8, 11 or most other numbers.

Well, it is said that things happen in threes. I've always believed to the Rule of Three to some extent. I know that this is in a game and all, but in Planescape Torment, things always happen in threes there as well, it seems to be a rule of the planes or something. But back to more realistic things... you do have the connoctions of three being referred to as a magic number for instance, and people usually say "third time lucky", so I'm thinking that the number three has a significance for a reason, perhaps even on the spiritual plane, as well as here... it's been ingrained into our culture for long enough for us to wonder about it.

no worries. Im not surely im entirely convinced by the signifcance of 3 as much as those who experience the 1111 phenomenen. however i was just providing the info.

Hi Lil kitten, I have just read through some of this thread and I could understand why it is scary but you must look at this in an other way also. YOu would not tolerate someone coming into your home and telling you what to do, or bully you about and its no different here, take control of the situation and take back the peace of mind and rest you deserve. It could be your own fear breathing douth or misunderstanding what this spirit (assuming it is one) is trying to tell you but with that aside he/she/it has no right to frighten you intentional or not so seek advice about how and what you need to do to regain some structure and go with what you are comfortable with.
