Iban payment as ebay seller

I know there are a few threads here about sending payments to an ebay sellers bank account, but Im a seller, and I have a buyer in Austria requesting my bank details (Iban number and account number)

I know this is common practice in Germany and Austria, and bank accounts are strictly governed and harder to set up there. But would I be putting myself at risk if I send these details, given that the guy could easily obtain my name and address too? The bank were not much help when I asked, they said theoretically it is enough info to commit identity fraud, but not to raid my account online, obviously.

And if I take a hit on this and refuse to go ahead with the sale, can the guy give me a neg? I didnt offer bank transfer as an option just paypal, bank draft cc etc.

Check the users recent feedback on buying items.

As few Germans etc use credit cards, their preferred methods of online payment is Bank Transfers.

If the user has had good feedback in the past, I'd say there is little to worry about.

As byte said, check their feedback etc, but technically speaking if they offer to pay using a payment method you did not specify, you dont have to go through with the transaction
