Yeah, I watched that earlier today, the JJ hand is quite possibly the finest moment in the history of Televised Poker. I love Phil Ivey's face when he covers his mouth after it, it looks like he's about to burst out laughing.

"I thought you had pocket Kings!" Absolutely Brilliant :D

Lindgren's hand against "The Special One" is hilarious too.

Antonius makes a nice call against Lindgren's busted flush draw, and Gordon asks Patric what he though Eric had.

Patric replies nonchantly "a flush draw". Phil Gordon says "me too".

Lindgren then calls Gordon an idiot for commenting on the hand and it all kicks off. Gordon is a complete clown and its very funny.

How that ditzy space cadet Tilly has ever won a hand of poker is beyond me. Herself and Laak should get their own reality TV show as both are straight up nuts. What Tilly has got going for her is that she was in that classic gambling film that I love called Let it Ride, where she played...a ditzy moron. I remember Richard Dreyfus's character complimenting her chararacter that she had nice long legs, to which she replies - yeah they go from my ass right down to the ground!

thought she played it well up until the check on the river.

    some set o jabbers though

    wat ep is this?

Segment #1 on Monday for the build up when Phil asks Patrik when he knew he was 'the chosen one'.

Segment #2 (or 3?) on Monday for the busted flush draw hand and Lindgren/Gordon standoff.

And check out Phil Ivey making fish faces at Phil Gordon at the end of the last segment on Monday.

Segment #2 on Tuesday has the awesome Jennifer Tilly hand.

I would probably not be able to restrain myself from smacking phil gordon if i ever met him in any situation. What an annoying prick. From the minute he made his little speech at the very start of monday seg1 every time he opened his mouth I wished someone would bust his head off the table. I'd say he got some battering in school. If he won money off someone back in the wild west he'd be shot dead at the table and the whole bar would cheer

Anyone else notice how rabbit/hamster-like jennifer harman is? Ive noticed it loads on HSP, she twitches her nose just like them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,450 ✭✭✭Gholimoli

Obviously the hand was played horribly and the check at the end was horrific,
But I think it must have been due to “one of those feelings” kinda thing.
Having watched her play other hands she is aggressive and is not afraid of getting her chips in as she showed against Harman when she moved in with second pair + gutshut draw .

She played in Poker Superstars a year or two ago and she was brutal.

Lindgren was probably pissed at what Gordon said about his game.
From a recent column Phil Gordon wrote:

I really like Erick. I have a healthy amount of respect for his game and his accomplishments. I'm not sure he'd say the same about me. In fact, I've heard him say many times that "Phil has no gamble" He just might be right - see, I view poker not as gambling, but as "strategic investing" I don't play poker for the money: I play for the thrill of competition.

Erick has two big weaknesses at the table: fancy play syndrome - he's always trying to outplay his opponents after the flop, and Gamble-Gamble - he's more than willing to take a 50/50 or even worse, early in a tournament. He'll be even more wiling to do so with a payout structure like we have today. My strategy: If I'm in a pot with Erick and I have a good hand, I'm gonna let him take control of the betting and let him try to "outplay" me- I'll let him bluff off his chips. with big hands 10s or better I'll be willing to put in a big initial raise or reraise against him and hope he finds a smaller pocket pair he wants to gamble with.

    ***************************************************************

What the??????? Did PHIL GORDON just matter of factly say that Erick Lindgren has two big weaknesses in his game? Then go on to give two examples that couldn't be more untrue? It's almost slanderous. E-DOG gambles on 50/50's before the flop? Huh?? What??? Huh??? What??? Is this guy serious???

How in the world did Phil Gordon become enough of an authority to say that Erick has two weaknesses in his game? If someone like Johnny Chan, or Doyle Brunson, or Chip Reese said something like that it would be somewhat understandable. But we are talking about PHIL GORDON here!!!

I'm still in shock after reading this. This dude done lost his mind. Now, I've done similarly stupid things in the past. Clearly I've crossed that line before and know that speaking negatively about others play isn't something that is usually a good idea. But for a non-professional poker player to critique an actual professional's game, and in doing so, be about as off base as humanly possible, just makes no sense to me.

The article comes off as though Gordon knows more about poker than Erick does. Phil, are you serious? Erick would absolutely trounce you at the poker table. He'd slap you up silly, seriously. You are talking about one of the best tournament players in the world today. A guy who's actually made his living playing the game of poker, whether it be online, in tournaments, or in cash games. What in the world makes you think you could spot a weakness in a player that plays better than you could even comprehend?

Phil, did you proof read that column before you sent it? It makes you come off like a complete bafoon. You started out the column complimenting Erick, but you are like the king of the backhanded compliment or something, lol.

Erick is a good buddy of mine, obviously, so you might say that I'm being biased. I'd challenge you to find 20 top players that think your comments where either accurate (in assessing his play), or appropriate coming from a TV Commentator/Author.

For the record, I don't dislike you. I think you are completely wrong in this case, but I don't think you are a jerk or anything like that. I just don't understand what motivated you to write something like that in the way that you wrote it?

I watched the Full Monday and Tuesday sessions and I didn't think Gordon was that bad TBH, I've read all the stick he's been getting on 2+2, and IMO it seems a little OTT, sure he had a few stupid jokes at the start and looked like he was trying too hard to be funny, but once Lindgren "put him in his place", (which I thought was a little bit out of order TBH, no matter what he said about him in some article, get over it, I say) he kept it quiet and it looked like he was basically just getting bullied by the rest of the players, (and not in the Poker meaning of the phrase) I don't think Lindgren would have come across particularly well outside of 2+2 with that performance. But possibly he did to some?

I think that no matter what Gordon does he'll always be a "d-bag" on 2+2, but I don't think we need to blindly follow them, what do other people think over here??

I was unaware of his bad rep on 2+2. I based my opinion on him just on what I saw here and just found him to be incredibly annoying. Nothing to do with the poker per se. I would not be able to tolerate his presence in a similar way to how I could not handle hanging out with Pauly Shore or Jar Jar Binks from star wars. Irritating fcukers one and all

All I know about him is from reading his book, and he comes across fine in that. He's a good solid writer and the book is good for a beginner, even if (or because) it is fairly standard advice. Haven't seen any of these clips yet (except for the one of Tilly and her balloons).

I love his quote at the end 'I knew what I was doing, it looked like I didn't know what I was doing, but I knew what I was doing!!'

    No sh1t sherlock!!

At least he had a good reason for doing it, along the lines of 'one time 20 years ago, I had AA on the bubble and lost to a set of Jacks', good reasoning there fella!!
