    Hey,

I was trying to configure a router on my PC so plugged it into the awl ehternet port, and it light up. But, the PC wasnt recognizing it - a LAN was not added. So I checked the device manage and notice an Ethernet Contorller and Network Controller were not installed (driver wise). So of I went to the good awl Dell site (as they made the PC) to get the drivers for the network card. Downloaded, installed and no problems. Now when I connect the cable to the ethernet port - still nothing happens but even the light doesnt come on. The LAN Status says a cable is unplugged, but its in OK. Checked device manager again - this time its the Network Controller drivers that are not installed -- question is, where the heck do I get them? There isnt any other network drivers on the dell site for my PC.

I ran the diagonstic tool for the hardware, and it said it all passed apart from a "Link Test" -- where it sent packets down the line. Still though, it didnt solve my problem.

Next up, I decided id move the network card to another slot. Opened up the case, to see its built onto the motherboard - so I cant move it.

The type of network card is; Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection. Drivers are from the dell site but since I installed drivers from the dell site -- the light when I plug in my ethernet cable is not lighting up like it did before. Restarted PC, no difference. Ran diagnostic test - nothing unsual.

Can anyone help me out further here, to fix the problem?

    Cheers.

That's pretty strange. You have only one network port, right?

If you want to try the PRO/100 VE driver from Intel:

Ya iv only the one port. Is the error suggesting I have two?

Ill try that driver in the hope it will work.
