This phone is now €39 with Vodafone (€59 on Meteor), with €80 free call credit: http://vodafone.ie/onlinestore/product.jsp?cat=ftc-phones&productId=19869&bpProductId=19870

This is a great little phone, it has a radio built-in so it comes with stereo headphones that also act as a handsfree device, they're white so they look kinda trendy as well.

Last time I checked this phone could not be unlocked, but this may have changed. It's easy to check on the unlocking thread over on the Mobile Phone forum. (Not that I'm the kind of person who would buy the cheapest phone at the cheapest possible price, use all the free call credit, unlock the phone, ditch the network, and port the number to Meteor or anything. I'm not that sort of person.)

Could you buy this phone, keep your number. Ditch the phone and use the credit on your existing phone. half price credit.

yes i do it all the time
vodafone are basically paying you 40 euro to take this phone off them !!!
you should have at least one of these offers on the go all the time
some people do more than one
slight catch is its 10 euro per month

    can this phone be unlocked?

I've asked on the Mobile forums Unlocking thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=52899558#post52899558 Only with a cable according to Skearon.

Update: You could try not topping-up the phone for 6 months, then ringing Vodafone Customer Service and they might give you the unlocking code. That has worked for me. :)

Does anyone know if this offer is available in store at this price? Or is it an 'online only' offer?

I've got their last two deals like this from their stores.

Cheers Oracle/mickoneill30 - considering that my current phone switches itself off whenever it damn well feels like it, it's too good an offer to pass up.

Cheers Oracle ... was on the lookout for a phone for my dad .. and this will do the job nicely

As far as I know, they offer unlocking codes based on the amount you've spent on credit during your history as a customer. If the amount you've spent outweighs the cost of the phone, they give you the unlocking code.

That's the "official" policy Murderer (I do feel a bit strange calling you that!) but I've found that, as Elites has said, Vodafone are fairly liberal when it comes to giving out the code. It seems to me once you have the phone over 6 months, regardless of top ups, you'll get the code. Although they may have changed since I was with them.

I think Meteor and O2 are stricter with the codes and do apply the "minimum top up" policy.

In contrast to you Elites I received the unlocking codes for a couple of phones from Vodafone with very little or no top up. Although it's probably at their discretion whether they give the code or not. It was about 4-6 months after I bought them.

how do you actually redeem the credit?
I got the phone yest (ordered on tues only!!) and i got the sim pack with it aswell.
Is the credit tied to the sim pack or what??
Can i get the credit onto my old sim card and number?

Nice little phone considering the price. a real bargain to be honest

there are two clear options when buying these phones
one says keep your old number and the other says get a new number
you choose to get a new number/sim, so that is where the credit will go
unless you can persuade customer services to do you a favour

ah b0llox. im some fvckin ape for doing that.
I wonder if i set up call forwarding and just use the new sim would it do?
CAn you do text forwarding too?

    Thats a disaster

There's no disaster Because I Can, simply return the phone. Under the distance selling regulations you've 7 days to examine the goods and return them if they're not suitable. :D

Details on their return policy: http://www.vodafone.ie/onlinestore/returns.jsp and the Online Store T & C's including, under "Returns" their compliance with the Distance Selling Regulations : http://www.vodafone.ie/terms/onlinestore/index.jsp I think the phone needs to be unused and in good condition. I'd say if you simply made a mistake and need an upgrade pack instead they would be sympathetic.

Cheers again Oracle. I actually the 2310 yesterday with a credit card. I didn't want to because I had been alerted (by my browser security) that :

[First attempt] the Vodafone website's 'security certificate' was registered to a (slightly) different website address than the one I was buying from.

[Second attempt] the Vodafone website's 'security certificate' was out of date.

I was being cautious as it isn't my credit card. I asked customer service if they would accommodate me by allowing me to order and pay for the phone in one of their stores. They couldn't but assured me that their security certificates are up to date... I had no trouble with certificates on the third attempt so I got the phone.

    Great bargain!
