Backing up my Computer???

    ok people, just after gettin my western digital usb external hard drive and wondering how to back up everything onto it so i can restore my laptop in case somethin happens, i have loadsa music films etc and want to be able to access them on this drive also. is there anyway of backing up absolutely everything such as installed software and the likes, any guidance would be brilliant, thank you

    Would advise against Norton Ghost. It makes changes to the boot sector of your HDD - had a problem in the past trying to re-install windows XP, setup didn't recognise HDD.

    There's a program called Genie Backup Manager that does a good job.

    What Operating System are you using?

    Windows XP Pro/Vista Ultimate have very good full backup and recovery tools, and they are part of the OS, so they are free.

    i have ordinary xphome and will be gettin vista premium as a free upgrade in the coming future...hopefully!!
