Sky with a borrowed card

    Hi,

I'm going down to work on the new house at the weekend. I will have a sky dish and box put in on Friday but I will not have the card from sky on time.

My father in-law has offered me a loan of his sky card so I can watch the game on Saturday. Will this work or does the card have to be paired with the box?

    Thanks,

    D

If your father in law has Sky Sport, Sky Movies or both then the card must be paired with the box.

What match are you referring too? It is a busy weekend on the sport scene.

Yup, Foggy has summed it up. Your father-in-law's card will open all channels with the exception of premium channels like Sky Sports (and presumably Setanta?). The RTE's however would work.

BBC or ITV channels will work even without a card, as they're FTA meaning they don't need a viewing card.

Bring father in law's box too.

    Thank you all.

The matches I want to see are the Irish and French rugby matches. I know if I go off to watch it somewhere I'll get no work done. At least with a portable tv and a video sender I'll be able to keep an eye on what's going on.

Even with a lot of work to do, it wouldn't be a rugby weekend for the kids if they didn't hear Dad roar at the tv or jump around the room with excitement.

    Thanks again.

Coverage of the Italy v Ireland game starts at 1pm and coverage of the France v Scotland game starts at 3.30pm

    Both on BBC1 - FTA

    Frequency - 10.773 GHz
    Polarity - H
    Serial Rate - 22000
    FEC - 5/6

Just to follow up - I brought my father in laws card with me at the weekend. The dish was installed on Saturday morning and the card worked fine without pairing. The guy who did the installation mentioned there was a 7 day grace period - that pairing was not needed (or something like that).

Either way it all worked and thank you to everyone here.
