I've just been called up for an interview with Oracle. Can anyone tell me what the interview process is like? Is it just one interview and then I get the job, they didn't make any mention of assessment. What sort of pay/conditions and benefits do they offer? What are Oracle like to work for, is it a friendly enough sort of place? Is there anything I should know about the company in particular?

I seem to remember there being a thread about Oracle here before but the rubbish search utility won't let me find it :( Any help or advice would be great guys.

Hi, I did a co-op placement there a while back. The interview for the co-op placement was straightforward as you might expect. Just one interview. I had no wish to try for a graduate job there at the time after I left. I didn't even know they were hiring graduates. Is it in software development or testing or what?

The only advice I can give for that self description test is to answer it honestly. It's clichéd I know, but it is the best way for it. You'll get a copy of the results for your own reference and they'll always put a positive spin on your personality traits. If you try lying, then it will show up in the results. I answered yes for questions like "are you neurotic" etc. and the spin was that I was an innovative thinker who loved big picture problems and the like. Your hiring manager won't get to see your original answers at all. The results can be scarily accurate. The good thing about them as well is that it will show what motivates you/demotivates you, which again was scarily accurate for me. That benefits you as your manager can see if there's a reason for you being demotivated other than just being a lazy bastard.

Pay/conditions/benefits were good when I was a student there. I've heard they're decent enough for full time hires as well. I didn't like the particular division I worked for, mainly because the department was focused on testing/localisation whereas I'm mainly interested in development. Also, I thought a lot of the people there were a little odd, whereas the people where I'm working now are generally lovely and the people in my job before Oracle were also lovely. But I think that's just because the Oracle folks were soccer-obsessed and I hate the game. I'm happier where there are more "nerds" about :)
