This month’s Kettle is shaping up to be one of the best yet with a superb line-up of guests and, as always, great drinks promotions and stunning visuals.
We are delighted to announce that ITF World Scratching Champ 03/04 DJ Flip will be joining us on the eve before he begins his European tour with Prozack Turner (Foreign Legion, California). Flip is on fire with his DJ sets these days so be sure to catch him.
Cork based hip-hop group The Lung Donors, consisting of Mr. Barton (beats), Breakz (cuts), Chance and Johnny Doobs (MCs) will be making the trip up to rock the Sugar Club with their energetic live show. Despite what the group’s name may suggest, they have never donated vital internal organs, but they all intend to someday. They don’t make regular hip-hop by the way, but good hip-hop based around tight rhymes, beats that sample liberally from any genre willing to lend a good sound and scratching that isn't just fresh but a part of the musical texture. They've all been at it for quite a while and between them have supported the likes of The Pharcyde, Buck 65, Edan & Insight, The P Brothers, WWO, Supernatural & DJ Noise, Nicky Blackmarket and many more, as well as having music included on compilations such as Southern Fried Vol. 2 and the Saturday Music Club Mix.
Fast rising to legendary status in Dublin, Calvin James will be showing us just why he has gained his solid reputation as a top-notch dancefloor rocker. Expect a seamless mix of hip-hop and electro from the Bodytonic and Straight Up Sundays man.
Enhancing the already stunning line-up is DJ O.B. Originally from Dublin, O.B moved to Manchester at the age of 18 and over the next few years held a string of residencies across the city before returning to these shores and putting on the excellent Break-Down and Danger Promotions gigs. He is known to play anything from reggae to hip-hop to breaks & drum and bass so expect a mixed bag of quality tunes to get the night started.
