    hi guys
finally i went around few shops in Dub last weekend and I tried many acoustic guitars in different shops:
At the end the choice will be done between:
    - Ibanez EW20 http://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/news/product_news/EW/index.html
    - Yamaha APX 500

    these are my impressions :
budget(<500 euro): great value for Yamaha APX 500
design: Ibanez EW20 has something very appealing
size: is Yamaha APX 500 too small?
    extra: Ibanez EW20 has a biult-in tuner! :D
brand: Yamaha has a great reputation.

so, do you have any suggestions for me?
    thank you for your comments

Are you set on a semi-acoustic? You may be better off putting all that cash into a nice acoustic and adding a pickup later. What do you mean is the Yamaha too small? It's an auditorium acoustic if that's what you mean.

Actually I'm more for an acoustic, but i was told that this Ibanez and the APX sound very good even when they are not amplified.
    What do you think?

About the size, the APX just looked smaller (but maybe it's handier).

    thanks

Okay well a couple of things. Firstly, remember that electronics cost money to fit to a guitar, it needs a pre-amp and controls etc. This is going to add to the cost of the guitar, and you end up paying more for it than you would if it was just an acoustic. Also, the fitted electronics for guitars of that price aren't the greatest in the world. You could spend the €500 on a 'pure' acoustic and upgarde to electronics later...personally that's what I'd do. The last two things I'd worry about are a cut-away and electronics.

The general rule is that if 2 guitars cost the same, but one has electronics fitted, then the one with the pickup will be a poorer quality guitar (speaking purely in terms of acoustics).

Ask yourself if you need electronics or a cutaway. You'll get a better guitar for the same amount of money if you decide against them.

It would depend on why you want it really doesn't it. Practise, play with a band etc.
