    Hi.
I've put down DCU's communication course on my CAO,and was wondering if any students on the course could give me some feedback about it!
    :)

    Howdy.
Im a first years comm student and at the moment loving it.
Theres a healthy mix of all kinds of subjects - at the moment, for example, we are learning to use Photoshop, analysing Fight Club, examining subcultures and more.
It is not as practical as one might think, however. The majority of lectures/seminars are theory based, with only a few practical media lessons a week (even less this semester). But you do get to use cameras, recording equipment and computers a bit, more next year I hope.
Timewise, you dont really have all that much lecture time compared to others. We only had around 12 hours a week last semester, up a little this time (around 15 I think). Its not as intensive as other courses, but you will definitely be working more when essays and stuff role around.
Overall though, I really love this course. Its great fun, interesting, and a huge range (you do everything from modern European history to media technology). There are a few irritating modules and lecturers (no names ;) ) but that would be my only major problem with the course.
If you are into the media or contemporary culture, it is the way to go.

Hope that helps and maybe see you next year :)
