I dropped mine in for the photography course on thursday, i submitted one last year, and i have to say, my last one was complete and utter ****, and i got 300 points for it, i really had no idea what i was doing. So don't be getting in a twist.
But since we're competing for the spot in the class, i should get all cunning, but screw it, good luck.

Right so,i say everyone that has submitted for the course should put up 3-5 pieces on boards and see what we think and then compare the results the college give yee?
    Anyone up for that?

I like the first and something about the second is interesting but there is something missing

and with the first set(xios),cant say anything stands out, first is nice though
The more I look at the second pic the more it is growing on me,still a bit plain though.

have to say that as single images i dont think my photos do much- but hopefuly when grouped together with the whole them, they have more of an impact... fingers crossed anyways lol

first one was taken in my bedroon... just wrapped the green fabric around the lampshade and started taking photos- nothing fancy! lol

I'm in london at the mo, so i had to get me mammy to drop it in!! My portfolio isn't finished yet, so I'm not expeting to do too well, I'm aiming for IADT anyway...

Just interested... How many pieces did you lot submit?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭Dr.Louis

I'm applying to IADT too- I had 28 pieces in it... They said 20-25 so I didn't think they'd mind an extra 3 :D But then a couple of days before submitting I got a letter saying no more than 20 pieces lol- but that was talking about art and design portfolios too...

Mine had 30. Didn't feel too nervous handing it in, but it took me 2 hours walking to find the place! No-one in any shops seemed to know where it was :)
Us Galweigians shouldn't be let near the big city without a map.

I'd link to pictures as everyone else is doing but I don't have broadband atm so...would be difficult! But my website is linked in my profile if anyone is bored enough to browse :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

Fobia, linking pictures doesn't require broadband, just copy the url and do this:

    www.photo.com

Also, Dr.Louis, who is the girl? Cos...well to be honest she's a little freaky looking...

(/me hopes its not his girlfriend :))

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭Dr.Louis

lol what does it matter if shes freaky looking in the photo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

Well, it depends on what you wanted the photo to convey really. The model looks a bit like she doesn't have any lips and they're just painted on... So if you're going for a creepy disturbing portrait then its fine...if its intended to be a glamorous shot then maybe you should reconsider the model.

I'm really hoping she's not your girlfriend. (Dig up, stupid!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭Dr.Louis

hmm now that i think about it i doubt she'd like her photo being gawked at by randomers on the net lol... better take it down!

well deffo isnt a glamout shot, as you would have seen from the rest of the photos in the set- there was something kinda sinister going on though... some pent up smotion i suppose- although i never like to get too arty farty with 'whats behind' the photo.

and no- shes not my girldfriend, been my best friend for the past 14 years actually...
