PPP Jackpot SnGs

I have to say I quite like these. It's easy enough to slot into third and freeroll your way to 1st or second.

But I would like some clarity on the Jacpot rules. Just what is consecutive? Because I took it to mean you play one SnG, win it... Then the next one you play you win and so on until six are won. If you lose on say the fourth SnG you have to start over.

However I took this to mean that if I say play a $20 Rio table on Monday and then don't play my next one until Tuesday that as long as I have not played a Rio table in between it is still consecutive. But looking at the rules it seems to imply that you would literally have to play one table after another. With no gaps.

Can we get clarity on this?

I used to play on ipoker about a year or a little longer ago, as far as I'm aware it's if you have not played a Rio table in between that it is still consecutive, so you can skip several days if you like. At least that's my understanding of it, still maybe ppp pit boss or shortstack could clarify.

I'd like to think it would just be consecutive (meaning you could skip several days at a time if you wish) if not somebody do the maths of winning 6 STTs in a row on the same night! that's definetly -EV! :D

Where as 6 with a few breaks in between can be done, I truly believe.

My record on Tribeca was 7 in a row, unfortunately there were no promos on at the time, these things happen. :(

you can play the 6 over the course of a month if you like, as long as they are consecutive to your play.

you can play a Rio, win it, then play anything you like and your 'run' wont continue until you play another Rio.

same applies for Maui, Dirty Dozen and Fort Knox

    hope that clears it up!

so if you play a rio, win, play a maui lose,
then play three rios and win, its counted as 4 for a win,
    sounds good

Thanks for clearing that up Karl.

I think it offers great value.

I don't agree with those saying it offers good value, it certainly makes it more interesting and not poo-poohing it for worth taking a shot at. Obviously the rewards are good for just a small extra outlay.

Still though, I don't think it's EV+. After all the network is making money out of it(I presume) so it can hardly be plus Ev

Your chances of winning 6 in a row if all players are equal are 1 in 46656. (i.e. 1/6 ^ 6) Even a very good player given the variance involved in stts can hardly expect to have chances better than about 1 in 30000. Anyway just sobering advice on the matter, hopefully one of you guys will crack it.

rooms dont make any more money from this than from a standard SNG. The extra fee goes straight into the jackpot.

in the strictest sense, it is -EV in the same way you could say SnGs are -EV due to reg fees.

the fact it is beatable and you have an edge over other players makes it +EV beyond what you are paying to play.

Of Course getting 6 in a row will be very difficult. But where I think the value comes from is because you get money back for third in a six seater. Meaning that a good player is going to place more often than 50% of the time.

the Maui one if different. i think

    Maui $5+$1.............$46,500
its five in a row, 10 handed
    so that 1 in 100,000
    the extra reg is .50c
    @ 1 in 100,000 = $50,000 (-3,500)
i would say that a player with the slightest edge would have +EV

    Dirty Dozen $2+.40
    win 4 in a row for $2000
the reg is the same as other $2 games so +EV compared to them

    Rio $20+$3.50
    win 6 in a row for $25,000
    $1.50 @ 1 in 46656 = 69k
    severe -EV (-44k)

    Fort Knox $50+$9
    win 6 in a row for $100,000
    $4 @ 1 in 46656 = 180k
    -EV (-80k)

so if you are going to play, maui looks like its the one to beat.

3rd in a six seater, whats the percentage paid so for 1st,2nd and 3rd. The jackpot 10 seaters hardly pay 4th???

I play 10 seaters on GJP paying out the top 3, do you think considering im very aggressive on the bubble and my bubble percentage can be slightly high that switching to 6 seater that pays out 3 would be better. Im sure it wouldnt take much adjusting to playing 6 seater after all when a 10 seater loses 4 people its essentially a 6 seater.

While we're on the subject, if you start a Rio, as soon as that begins, a fresh Rio table opens. If you get into this game so that you are playing 2 tables simultaneously, and win both. Is this allowed or does it breach the consecutive rule?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭dvdfan

Sorry for kind of double posting, just i looked more into detail after posting the 1st one:

Just reviewing the different structure for the $20 STT's on GJP. I currently play 10 seaters which take on average 40-45 mins to win. Ive never played 6 seaters but i notice alot of the good player play 6 seaters nicnic for example. Would i be better off playing 6 seaters and also what do you think of the following structures below, if im 3 tabling, my ITM at 10 seaters is about 45%, my bubbling is quite high as im willing to be aggressive on the bubble to make the top 2 and im not too concerned with 3rd although it does help to keep me profitable. My ROI for this level on tribeca was approx 15% although this was only over around 300-400 stt's but i think i can maintain this. So what is the best value of the structures below:

    5 Seater
    $20+2
    1st: $70
    2nd: $30

    6 Seater
    $20+2
    1st: $84
    2nd: $36

    6 Seater Jackpot
    $20+3.50
    1st: $60
    2nd: $36
    3rd: $24

    10 Seater
    $20+2
    1st: $100
    2nd: $60
    3rd: $40

Also if your multitabling and youve won 5 in a row and you have 2 games still running. The 1 you started first you won on to make it 6 but it didnt end until after the other one. I guess my question is does the consecutive mean the 6 that ended first or the 6 that started first

Fair enough points you kake Karlh and fatboydim, worth having a shot I suppose if you regularly play $20 or $50 sngs anyway. I'll probably end up having the odd go myself.

I think its a great idea to push people to play SNGs, knowing they could win upto $100k by winning 6 in a row.

I remember the iPoker network did the $1million promotion before, win 9 in a row, and win $1million, and they were only $11 SNGs.

Does anybody did anyone ever win it? I somehow doubt it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,608 ✭✭✭breadmonkey

    9 in a row? I can't see that happening.

    Amaru could do it.

The EV of the jackpot sngs...

    Name Buy-in Prize
Fort Knox $50+9 $100,000 for winning 6 in a row, $750 for being 1st and 2nd in 6 consecutive. This promotion is not +EV
Rio $20+3 $25,000 for winning 6 in a row, $300 for being 1st and 2nd in 6 consecutive. Jackpot needs to reach $46.6k for the tournament to be +EV
Maui $5+0.75 $15,000 for winning 5 in a row, $200 for being 1st and 2nd in 5 consecutive. Jackpot has to reach $25,000 for it to be +EV
Dirty Dozen $2+0.35 $2,000 for winning 4 consecutive. This promotion is not +EV

Bohsman, any idea why they are not +EV, that page doesnt really explain? I always thought that the sites took in money through the additional reg, and didnt put all this ectra money into the jackpot.

But according to Karl, everything extra goes in the jackpot, so I don't see how they can be any more -EV than a normal STT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

For the jackpot ones I would say its to do with paying the extra reg against the odds of winning 6 in a row whereas Fort Knox and Dirty Dozen never increases so there is no way that the extra money gets paid out.

I'm pretty sure, if you did get 5 in a row, that you would take the 6th one pretty seriously, and not multitable. 3rd - $24, 2nd - $35, 1st - $60 + $25,000 + jackpot. I'm just playing one table if thats the payout at a 6 seater sit n go.

Got 3 Rio's in a row straight away. Played the 4th one last night. Got heads up. Made a pot sized all in bet on the turn with top two on a dangerous board. He types into the chat, "I have to call". He does, with flushdraw and gutshot. Sigh.

Last summer on Betfred I won 4 Fort Knox in a row, got it all in heads up in the 5th with KQ vs KJ with 100 chips extra than him, lost the 5th but went on to win 3 more in a row. Got the $750 kick in the teeth consolation prize.
At the time I asked a host had anyone won the 100k and he said at least 2 people had.

I just played my first six seater on the new software, I played a lot of crypto sixpacs in the summer last year and found these very similiar. The standard of play was shocking (it was a $20+$2). The structure is very similar to the crypto ones although time based not hands based, this gives the better players a bigger edge because as players get eliminated you are getting more hands per level than on crypto, although earlier you get less, this is not so bad as the blinds are so low anyway.

The best thing about sixpacs was the top heavy payout structure and I am glad that Ipoker six seaters are similar, it rewards the better players more.
