Recently I've become very overwhelmed due to a relationship falling apart, considering applying for college/uni but not knowing what i'd like (I want to eventually get a degree in something), my job, and several other things, namely lack of confidence/insecurity. I feel Im stuck in a rut and that I've a lot weight upon my shoulders. Im hoping to go to a counsellor soon for a chat, to see things more clearly, but I have no idea where to find a suitable one. My city's university has a service but I think it's only for students, I am not sure if ordinary people can just drop in (I have got in contact with them but I probably won't get a reply until Monday). In short, I just want to help myself before I get any worse. If anyone has other ideas/advice I'd appreciate it.

College might be the thing to get your life back on track and into a routine again. Have you any close friends that you can chat to about how you are feeling?

I completely relate to your post, literally 3 weeks ago I was feeling the same. Broke up with the boyf, had to move home because of the breakup, work dried up, I was broke, everything seemed completely crap. People kept telling me that things would turn around but I felt really hopeless and found it really difficult to get motivated to actually do anything to improve my situation. Then, out of nowhere, an incredible work opportunity popped up. I didn't allow myself to think for a minute that it would work out, but it has. Now I have a great new job which means I'm relocating to Galway so won't be stuck with the parents anymore and won't be surrounded by reminders of my failed relationship. Thinks will turn around for you. Keep the faith. :)

You can find a counsellor here: http://www.irish-counselling.ie/ - they're really very helpful, I think everyone could do with counselling at some stage in their life!
