I am trying to run a charity came next week for the Jack and Jill foundation.
Its part of a social/charity day for our college course. Most players will be playing for fun, with no expierence, and it is a taking part that counts thing. The players are going to be students, about 100 of them, the buy-in will be very low. possibly €5 multi rebuy. Because of the buy-in for the event is so small, I want to have as much going towards Jack and Jill as possible, 100% being the target
so this is where the various organisers and poker companys come in.

I am looking to get help in any way possible with this.
I have people to help on the day, but as my poker equipment wont go much further than a home game im a little stuck.

If anyone could provide any of the following it woulf be a huge help and will get a mention with the donation to the J&JF
    1. Chips, cards etc to be used on the day (returned of course) this part is sorted, thanks to all
    2. Suitable Prizes, poker sets, cards, etc
    3. non poker prizes (student will be happy with winnning anything)

Update: We have playing equipment sorted now, and are trying to get as many spot prizes as possible. I'm confidant we can get 100% of prizepool going to the charity.

The game is on next weds afternoon.
Collection shouldn't be a problem on the sday. and everything can be returned later the same day.

all help and support is appreciated.
    thanks

mods, if this is better in tiourneys please move, but it not avertsing a game, looking for help so I thought it was best here

after his donation in the GJP?DIT game im sure he would,
but this one is being run through the school of architectural technology, so only students and staff are playing, was the only way I could get away with 0% of buy-in being paid out ;)

Thansk BigDragon, thats the kind of thing we are looking for, I'd rather 10 small prizes than one massive one.

Sorry ditpoker, its a closed tourney, open to students in the school of architecture. there is going to be about 10% of the field who can play, so im probably into a stressful time as a TD.

    Hi Mellor,

I'm having a hard time thinking of things to donate so I'll just do like JP and offer a €50 voucher into one of our games.....

I can also offer a drinking chess game, a broken poker table and some other things that are lying around my house but I think the €50 voucher will go down a little better.

Thanks Carfax, and everyone else for all the help,
anybody donating a prize, if you want to give me a few flyers for games you run, i can pass them around, announce who sponsored each prize etc

I was thinking about the easiest way to collect prizes,
instead of everyone dropping over to DIT Bolton street,
would it be easier if people left them somewhere, like the fitz? and i couldr any collect them on weds morning, would the fitz have a problem with that.
    other suggestions would be helpful

We ran the event today and it went along smoothly,
the field was mostly first time players and the turnout was lower than expected, but we still manged to raise €500 for Jack and Jill.
There was a 100% prizepool donation to charity, and this was only possible due to the prizes donation from Boards.ie members. Thanks to EVERYONE (im not listing people as I dont have a list with me and I dont want to risk leaving somebosy out) that donated or tried to donate. also thanks the JP Poker for supplying the tables and chips for the events.

    Thanks for all the support
