im almost six foot tall but have a really small upper body.its looks thin from the side+the front,no one would ever call me broad shouldered.

i have a good diet and try and do weights twice a week but see absolutely no difference.any general tips?

    1)Read the stickies

    2) Eat more - nearly everyone I've come across who says their diet is good or that they eat loads actually has a crap diet and eat f*ck all

3)Perform heavy free weight movements such as benching, deadlifting, overhead pressing, rows

Read the stickies to make sure your diet and training is ok then anything your unsure of ask here.

    Good Luck

[QUOTE=daveirl What's your diet actually like and what do you do for the two workouts?[/QUOTE]

well i avoid fatty foods and i try and get as much protein+carbs as possible.maybe i shud get much more of one than the other?

in the gym i do whatever i can on the weights machines,i also do some exercises with dumbells(but not an awful lot) and i do some benchpressing(but not very heavy pressing cos im not the strongest and im bad at benchpressing). should i concentrate more on dumbell exercises?

    thanks

    I've highligthed the problems.

If you're small, do you think maybe getting stronger would get you bigger?

Size comes thru TOTAL kcal intake. Not just protein and carbs.

You use more machines than free weights.

Barbells allow you to use a greated total load than dumbbells (higher load = harder work = more muscle)

i eat a fair bit of meat(mostly chicken) and drink milk for protein.
i eat spuds and rice for carbs.i eat noodles, pasta and soup.
    i drink plenty of water.

with the weights i do as much as i can,it might mean doing 5 sets of 10 per machine or it might be 3 sets of 10.the actual weight of the machine wouldnt usually go beyond 50(i presume its kilos)(dont laugh if dats light for some people-im not dat strong!)

maybe dats de problem-i just cant lift heavy enough weights to notice a change?

    What do you eat EXACTLY.

Time of day, and rough quantities.
