The Lamp Post thing

Sorry if this has come up before

OK here goes, about twenty years or so ago (showing my decrepitude here), I was leaving a friends house to go home to my own, it was about 11pm at night in early summer. My own house is about a mile from his with a straight road that jinks slightly to the right and then continues as it crosses a main intersection. Anyhoo, as I start walking up the road the street light about twenty feet ahead of me goes off, didn’t pay any heed really and I continue on, as I get about the same distance away from the next one it too goes out, okayyy, I pause and think to myself two in a row ? Bit of a coincidence and carry on. Yes you guessed it same with the next one, this time I stop and look behind me at the other lights, they’ve come back on ! I start walking and this happens all the way home, except for the lights at the aforementioned intersection, I get twenty feet from the light it goes out I get about ten feet past it, it comes on again. Needless to say I am walking quite fast and a little freaked out by the time I get home. I told my friend about this the next day and we were both at a loss to explain it and eventually said maybe it was just weird coincidence (very weird). As time passes I begin to think I may have imagined it or maybe had a really vivid dream or something, and no, no substances were involved legal or otherwise. About six months passes and the incident is pretty much forgotten, unfortunately at this time my father suffered a major heart attack (recovered from it and is still going strong in his late eighties now:D ) and was taken to Blanchardstown hospital. At the time all the wards in blanch were in different buildings all over the grounds of the hospital and quite some distance between them (I think this goes back to it being a hospital that specialised in T.B. treatment and the spacing was to reduce the chance of infection). So my father wanted me to get him a paper from the hospital shop which was in another part of the grounds, and the same thing happened again, all the way from the ward to the shop and back, twenty feet from the light it goes out ! Ten feet past it comes on again, totally freaked me out again, but I couldn’t explain to my father why I was white as a sheet when I came back as he had problems of his own at the time and didn’t need me telling him scary stories. Hasn’t happened since, but I have always wondered what the hell went on, so any theories would be appreciated.

P.S. please feel free to move this as appropriate, and I apologise for any bad spelling grammar.

    SM

I've heard of something similar before involving a girl and televisions. Or maybe it was an episode of Mr Bean? Perhaps something to do with electro magnetic field or energy you omit?

    1 - Coincidence.
    2 - Someone's playing pranks on you :)
3 - You have some sort of weird disruptive EM field. Which is very odd considering it seems to have only manifested twice...

good news, the same thing happened to me as a teenager. just the once, walking home late from a friends place. Seven or eight lamposts going off as i approached and then back on again as I moved to the next one.

    perculiar eh
