That is good news at least this expansion pack isnt tied in with EA link as the only means of purchase like BF2's expansions (armoured fury).

NS isn't the best tbh, feels a bit weird, the speeder is good though.

I went for the lazy option and bought it off Link for 9.99. I like it so far. Love the layout of the maps especially the titan one, which is superb. I'd even say better than most in the main game. Though I'm not liking the unlocks much so far. Wtf is the shotgun expansion all about? Its impossible to hit infantry with and does barely any damage to vehicles.

I have to say I really enjoy the maps in NS, I havn't had a go at the goliath or whatever its called yet but there are plenty of walkers to get into. Pity we had to pay for it though.

Have to say i like it so far. New maps are good. Yet to get into the lines mode yet, but so far so good.

Whats the story with the unlocks? Do you keep them or is it like a new game and have to go through all the trouble of unlocking the HMG again?

No, it's the same soldier as normal BF2142, so all your unlocks are there. And NS unlocks work in vanilla BF2142 as well.

You hold onto them. I had them once i preordered NS. The 4th rocket\shotgun shell unlock is very handy.

I thought they appeared once the last patch was applied but you couldnt unlock them except as field upgrades unless you bought the expansion ? I defintely tested out the sniper unlocks before I bought NS.

By the way, who is tirbrath_ire ?

Also in NS you get an unlock for every badge you obtain in-game instead of points.

Join or form a good squad and you should be able to test out the unlocks through field upgrades. Stopped me getting the support 2nd shotgun and the sniper lure.

not playing it - you're missing out on an excellent add-on which, yes could have been a free upgrade but I love the new maps enough not to regret missing out on teh price of 2 pints.

Is it possible to get NS on a cd? I went into my local gamestop and they said they only have them to download. i bout it anyway but i would have preferred teh CD.

No, it's just a card with the activation code for use with EA Link. But you can burn the installation files to CD yourself.

Afaik when you buy northern strike expansion pack in the shops you recieve a case and the serial inside. If you where to download it using EA link you possibly could copy the file from the 2142 cache and burn onto a disk. You wont get both when you buy it in the shops.
