A friend of mine is in the final stages of restoring a 1954 Norton 500 ES2 single. He needs to buy some mono grade oil, specifically Grade 40 and Grade 20. Can anyone recomend a supplier and give me an idea of prices. He is based in Leixlip. Thanks.

Get him to ring Leo O'Reilly (motorcycle shop) on Dorset St.
He races (or raced) old singles, and will know all the info required.

Although I think the specs for two different weight oils (winter and summer?) are because multi-weight oils probably were not available in 1952.

Leo is who I would ask anyway.

Thanks esel, I will try O'Reillys. The problem with multi-weight oils is that they contain detergent and so are not suitable for engines without filtration, or so I am told.
