    i am 54 and always been reasonably fit,is there any thing i can do to build up more arm/chest muscle

    Its slowly working for me, free weights appear to be key :)

    Hey Tommy,

    First off read the diet & nutrition sticky - if you want to grow any muscle group you need to create the right conditions for muscle growth.

    As well as the thread that connundrum linked to, a very simple method is the lowly press-up. If they're too hard drop to your knees for them, if they're too easy raise your feet on something or wear a back-pack with weight in it. In general if you can do more than 20 in one go then start looking for more difficult variations.

    Chin-ups and dips will also build up your arms & chest, with the added bonus of hitting your back too, if you have somewhere where you can do them.
