I'm looking for a suggestion for a GP who will understand the particular requirments of athletes. Most of the time I get told I'm mad for running marathons so I don't even bother to mention the more extreme events. Over the next while I've got a few such events coming up and I need pretty comprehensive medicals with things like ECG's, rearranged menstural cycles etc. Would also be useful to have someone who knows the legalities of which medications I can and can't take without risking a positive dope test.

Disgraceful!!!, while 90% of his patients probably eat fast food half the week and only move to get from the desk, to the car to the couch

I have found the doctors in the Sufflok street clinic very good. I've neen to them about EIA, cellulitis, minor pneumothorax...... they have always understood the requirements of an athlete.

I'm sure he tells those to get some exercise and offered to refer them to a dietician.

Colin Goggins of sports medicine Ireland. He's the man for the job. He saved my knee last year after my 'ordinary' GP told me to give up training. He directed me other wise and now im back to my youthful self (no smart arse comments..im looking at you Big-D)
He's the doctor at all the Full contact ring shows and the man all the competitors see about their medical's.
If you want his number just PM me.

Dragan, I'm in Dublin city centre most of the time. Unfortunately I'll be in Westwood clontarf this evening so unable to join in the knee-hunt. Apparently Jon knows a guy can fix it when the others do their worst!:D

    Jon, just pm'ed you

Cool, my Doctor is somewhat enlightened when it comes to this type of thing but is based in Sandyford. I'll ring him and see who he might recommend in the center of town.

I was jsut about to recommend talking to Sports Med. Ireland. They take care of my body. Both Mark and Orla have had played big parts in getting me back onto the platform. I've heard nothing but good things about Peter's massage skills either and am planning a visit very shortly to see for myself!

I have asked a few of the GPs I work with and they are going to get back to me with some names, so if you haven't found anyone by then I'll pm you the names.
