Hi, could somebody give me a quick guide to buying a loop pedal?
E.g, what to look for, what to stay away from etc.

Cheers,
S.

I have an Akai Headrush. I'm a total amateur now so take my advice lightly.

Pro's: Very good reproduction in the loop. Ability to record loop over loop and remove the loops while still keeping the original. Up to 14 seconds loop time. Also a great delay pedal with digital delay and simulated tape delay.

Con's: You can't use the delay while looping(probably obvious to some)

I have not compared this pedal to any other looper pedal.

Try here: Http://filters.muziq.be for more information on other pedals.

I'd look at the bit and sample rate of the loop. I know Boss have a new compact looper that I quite liked the look of.

http://www.bossus.com/index.asp?pg=1&tmp=158

Gives you 16 minutes of recording time, up to 11 phrases.

These pedals can be kind of a pain to operate, so I like the look of that one because its so small.

That doesnt make any sense.

That doesnt make any sense.

what exactly don't you understand? I figure you have a problem with me over something I said elsewhere, thats fine, but don't try and take from advice. It's pretty simple; you can deal with THIS:

Or you can deal with this

Loop pedals 'can be a pain to operate', so you like the look of a really small one, with all the controls cramped together and only ONE footswitch to control start/stop/pause/loop etc.?

Doesnt make any sense...:D

Did you just look at the pedals or did you read about them? I'll assume the former.

Look if you've nothig to say about loop pedals fine...but don't hijack this thread just to start a fight.

TelePaul - play nice. Especially after you said you weren't going to post here any more...

I would assume you have rules about keeping things relevant, no? I'd have no problem clarifying what I said to the OP, though i don't think it needed clarification. I will take issue however, with someone looking for an argument without even contributing themsleves. I believe that's called flaming in the world of bulletin boards.

If I have it wrong, then i'll apologise to Voodoo Child, but look how off topic this post has gone. There's something to be said for keeping things relevant.

Feylya, Telepaul is not at fault.
voodoo_child, bugger off please.

Thanks for the replies.

Telepaul, yeah I saw that one on ebay, new for £120.
Might opt for that one.
If it's not a pain to op... I'll get me coat.

Thats a bit uncalled-for now in fairness  -

I made two (un-edited) posts, one of which was questioning someone elses advice (thats allowed, nobody here ever agrees), and the other of which was explaining my first post (when asked to do so).

Bugger off for that? ...nice:rolleyes:

as someone who regularly uses two looper pedals i have to agree with VC,the boss RC looks a little small, with looping you want a clear display of the settings at a glance or the result could be disasterous live, also i'm not convinced by using just one footswitch to rec/start loop/stop
my old dd5 used a single switch and it was pretty useless at looping
i use an akai headrush 2 and a zvex lo-fi loop junkie, both are simple to operate

no point asking questions here if you won't listen to the opinions voiced..

voodoo_child, I didn't get anything useful from your posts, and you plunged the thread into bitchiness, that's the only reason for wanting to bugger...you...erm...off.
:)
Thanks punchdrunk, might just go with that one.
