Memory Problem

Well after asking for help here already and after trying everything suggested, the extra memory I have installed on my Dell Inspsiron 1000 laptop doesn't seem to be showing its face so to speak.

The lappy originally had 256mb of RAM but I got this extra 256mb chip from crucial.com and put it into the correct slot and all done perfectly but yet it does not seem to be recognised by the system. I ran Belark system advisor and that doesn't seem to be detecting it either...

I have taken the chip out, blown away any dust and tried again but it just doesn't seem to be working.

    Any help would be appreciated

Try taking out the known working 256 module, and putting the new 256 module into the slot. That'll show if it's the RAM or the slot/mobo
