Stupid question time but could I ask why?

Why not... I love Rugbytech's socks and if their boots are half as good at that price you can't go wrong! ;)

I actually saw them for €40 in Elvery's, I went for cheapness over quality(because I had no idea if they were good or bad). Would I have to get different studs or are the ones on the boots allowed?

Rugbytech specialises in rugby gear so I would be surprised if the studs they provided weren't for rugby...

erm, forgive me for being dumb here but aren't they just boots or am i missing something?

No, you're not missing anything... But boots are important to some people!

Its the bargain to be had rather than the boots themselves me thinks

Perhaps this is the point to this thread. Good thinking there Jabba!

That actually was the point. I saw them and a similar pair for €40 in Elvery's and compared to the others they had(€60 being the next cheapest and €150 being the dearest) the miser in me won out and I bought a pair. Just thought I'd pass along the bargain.

The thing about the studs is that when I brought the boots home a friend of mine said the metal part of the stud was too long. I did buy other studs anyway though.

Buying replacement studs was a bit of a rip off, I only got fourteen in the pack.

And you need 16? Sounds to me like you bought soccer studs... Should have saved the money. Rugby studs are never too long! :p

If I remember from years back... 16mm were standard, we'd go up to 18mm which is the longest legal studs, and used 21mm in training, but they're illegal. Sound about right?

Sounds about right indeed... Don't know the laws that well though so I could be wrong...

Googled it and came up with the following:

    (4) Any boot worn by a player must conform to the following:

    (a) studs most conform to British Standard BS6366 1983 or an equivalent standard;

    (b) studs must be:

securely fastened to the sole of the boot
no longer than 18 mm, measured from the sole
a minimum diameter at the base of the stud of 13 mm
a minimum diameter at the top of the stud of 10 mm
where secured by an integral washer, that to have a minimum diameter of 20 mm
not worn as a single stud at the toe of the boot

I'm pretty sure they're the same ones I wore this last year. They should be fine. I got about 18 months out of them.
