bs, my sister had her sei inspection last friday, the only problem
was her chimney flue was horizontal ie.a 90 degree on top of the
wpb, horizontal double walled insulated flue out through the wall and
a 90 degree bend to turn the flue up towards the eves.she was told
she should have a 45 degree from the top of the wpb and then a
straight flue before exiting the wall presumably much higher than
    she is now .
i suppose this is to lessen the pressure on the gasses
    going up the flue

Why can they run horizontal in US and i have seen this in France also?Sounds to me like the rulemakers are "flying desks" and have no real world experience!
