    Hello there!!

Have a bit of a strange one at the moment, my computer fails to turn on.

When I press the power up button, the fan can be heard for a split second, and then it just turns off. Then when I press the power on button again it does nothing.

If I plug out the power lead from the back of the pc, and reconnect it, and press the power button again, the fan can be heard starting again for a split second as if it were booting up, but then the computer just shuts down again.

This is just happening over and over again.

The last thing I did to the computer was shut it down before going to bed, then I came down the next morning and the problem was happening.

Any Ideas what might be causing this? Faulty psu? Or something?

    Any help, is most appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Coz.

Most obvious is the PSU...any chance you can borrow a known good one to test?

Yeah this is either the powersupply, or a dead mobo.

I didn't want to give too much possible bad news in one post :D

the fact that he is getting the psu start up but not the all clear voltage increase from the Mobo is a bad sign....

a tip that works for me

    1. unplug power lead

    2. hold down power button for 10-15secs

    3. plug power lead back in

    4. push power button, and your pc should boot up

This is caused due to electrostatic charge that is unwanted.

it usually works for a laptop, not sure about a desktop
