Balbriggan Beach

There I was waiting for the train at Balbriggan Station this morning & I noticed that the green area skirting the beach below the station wall was overgrown & full of weeds & cr@p.

Compared to the great work that FCC do on the entire length of the South Strand in Skerries - the place looks really tatty. What's the story with FCC? Do they think that any place north of Ardgillan isn't worth bothering about?

You can be damn sure that if the beaches in Skerries were left to rot like that there would be ructions!

The fine people of Balbriggan should be up in arms about this. If the beach at the harbour were properly landscaped & looked after it would really add to the town. Let's face it - Briggers would benefit more from that then the waste-of-space "monument" (which probably cost way more than a few packets of grass seed & a lawnmower).

Not as simple as you suggest.

FCC are responsible for the area from the path down to the beach while Irish Rail are responsible for the area from the path up to the wall of the railway station.

That explains a lot. Is there a Tidy Towns committee in Balbriggan? Surely they'd want to get the place "scrubbed up"?

There is a nice little project for you;)

The worst I have seen is people drinking cans up by the train station and on the walkway by the beach and then just firing them on to the beach when they are finished.

Note on posts that were deleted: Mentioning "unmentionable" things while refering to them as "unmentionable", still counts as mentioning them, esp. if you give quite a bit of detail.
