Best time to Travel South East Asia?

    Hi Folks,

As the title suggests, when is the best time to travel South East Asia?

I've a few mates that are heading over at the end of June, but I believe this is their wet season?

I'm caught in a bit of a dilemma, I've got a sister in Oz who I promised I'd go to for Christmas. So I can either travel with my mates, land in Oz in Sept/Oct. Work for a while and spend Christmas there.

I could also travel in Sept/Oct, by myself, and be in Oz just in time for Christmas.

I've traveled by myself before so I'm not too fussed in gaining that experience again (although I did meet some of my now closest friends by doing this...). It's really just about the best time for me to see the sights. It really comes down to July-Oct or Sept-Dec.

Don't worry about the wet season.

rains for about a half hour or an hour every other day. it's just called the rainy season cause it rains more then and when it does so it's quite heavy - but refreshing in that heat.

Grand, I heard that some areas are unreachable and some roads unuseable during this season?

Yeah some roads in Northern Thailand/Laos get unusable but I wouldn't even bother factoring that in tbh.

Personally if i knew what i knew before, i would of stayed in SEA for Xmas and new year, terrible time to be travelling to OZ, height of summer, everywhere is booked out months in advance and everything starts going up. Drinking has been banned on the beaches in Sydney, so the whole xmas day ion the beach, kinda sucks(although drinking aint everything), listenming to the same old questions and answers from fellow backpackers etc etc - its all a bit of codswallop - stick to SEA
