    Cheers folks,

I have a very demanding job and as a result I have put on some weight which I need to loose. I feel very selfconscious about going to a gym because of it. Is there any recommended training I can do to get me back in shape before I go back to a gym.

    Dave.

I was in a similar position a year ago and I took up swimming, however a workmate suggests you get a Personal Trainer and recommends a guy called Michael whom you can contact through his website www.mypt.ie He is supposed to be very good in this sort of situation. Worth giving it a try.

Firstly, there is no reason to feel self-conscious. I do understand though. Get a pair of good running shoes, and go jogging/brisk walking (whichever you can do, but really push yourself) and push-ups. As many as you can do. You'll get good at them quick, trust me.

If you're looking to lose weight you need to pay attention to your diet more so than anything else. Read the stickies to learn more.

As for being self-concious, the gym is where people go to improve their bodies & health and everyone starts somewhere. I wouldn't let it bother me.
