Travel 90 ticket validity

Just wondering about this .. I have some old €1.60 Travel 90 tickets lying around. Can I still use them now that they've gone up to €1.70?

On a related note, the DB website says they're only valid for six months after purchase, but since as far as I can see no record is made of when you've bought them how can this possibly be enforced? The only thing I can imagine is that some record is made of the date when you use the first one of a book, but knowing the sorry state of DB's technology I can't imagine the on-board ticket machines being sophisticated enough to do this.

I bought a pack of 16.50 ones yesterday and used a couple of them during the day.

I assume they were old stock from a DB agent? I got mine at the DB "head office" on O'Connell St. yesterday and got charged €17 for a book of 10!

There is no way of telling when they were purchased so they are valid for 6 months after the price has changed.

For a €16 book that would have been 6 months ago.

AFAIR you can swap old unused tickets in DB head office for new ones, not certain about that though.

You could probably still use them, I don't think the data strip is changed with the price increase so the validator should still accept old tickets and the drivers won't know or care.

OK, I'll give it a try!

As I understand it, the tickets are printed in batches, such that they have a defined expiry date and are sold X months before that expiry date. If the X months are seriously encroached upon, the tickets are returned to DB.
