How do you clean the crap that embeds itself on your metal parts on the bike, particularly your wheels? I can never shift it, it makes my wheels look like concrete! (I use muck off when im cleaning)

wd40 normally does the trick, just make sure not to get it on the pads

Careful use of a pressure washer or steam cleaner can shift really bad stuff, just don't point it up the intake or exhaust and don't clean your engine with it. Autoglym make a really good wheel cleaner which you spray on and wash off - I've used it on really grimy stuff and it brings them up like new. Any good auto factors should stock it.

I use Autoglym wheel cleaner myself. I also use the wheel cleaner on the swing arm. It eats up the chain lube nicely.

I don't use anything but water on my pipes. I used a metal cleaning product on them with my last bike. They turned a few colors and lost their shine. Shiny burnt metal looks fine in my book.

Important to keep the pressure washer away from the bearings in the wheel hub ( the high pressure and heat drives the grease out ) and keep it away from brake calipers ( can damage hydraulic seal causing brake failure , seen it happen twice , seal just failed suddenly and totally )

Autoglym make stuff called "motorcycle cleaner"... its specially for cleaning motorcycles... believe it or not:D

Anyway, I found it pretty good. I spray it on.. leave it .. then spray some more on. Give it a rub of a brush, and rinse. Its always gotten the dirt off pretty easily.
Another thing is use "rock oil Silicone protector spray" once its clean. Id doesnt evaporate like wd40, and offers much better protection, specially for hoses, break lines, and electrics. You should be able to get it in most bike shops. Cover the whole bike in it, brake calipers and all. Just wipe off the excess.
