    Hi I got an email last week from a recruitment agency and i was wondering if i ring the agency would they give me the name of the company over the phone?

    They usually won't tell you the name of the company until you've got an interview.

    Reason being that you could just go and apply directly to the company yourself and the agency get no money out of it.

    I would never allow an agency to forward on my CV unless they tell me the name of the company. If I'm dealing with multiple agencies I don't want all of them sending slightly different versions of the CV onto the same company.

    Yep i edit my CV for each job i apply for, i applied for one particular job direct to the company, then about a week later i send a slightly different cv to the recruiter for the same company, i only found out when i went for the interview!
