I heard there is a small utility still in Beta (Not from MS) available where it is possible to setup a boot image (BMP) while Vista boots (Getting rid of the black screen).

Anybody tried and successfully made it ?
If so can you point us to the right direction ?

    Thanks buddies

Well officially I'd keep an eye on Bootskin from Stardock as that was the only method for XP that didn't hack the OS files. According to their site it's not yet compatible with Vista though they just released a Vista version of Windowblinds so they are updating their software.

Unofficially there is this program which I have not tried out myself but it seems to work from the posters responces.

You can enable the aurora effect during boot up by going into msconfig and ticking 'noguiboot'

Yep what Peteee suggested, it gives a much nicer loading screen.
