My Mother's laptop is running Window's Xp and IE 7.

When we try to open a new window, it closes the one we're on and it's driving me nuts.

I've been all through the options and can't find anything that has worked.

It also won't let me add a 'History' button to the toolbar. The option just doesn't show up on the 'Customise Toolbar' menu.

Any ideas would be welcome . :)

You can't add the History button to the toolbar not at least without a hack I imagine as history is integrated into the sidebar.

As for the tabs under Internet options\Tabs have you clicked the restore default settings button ?

These three should be ticked as the default settings "enabled tabbed browsing", "enable quicktabs" & "open new tabs next to the current tab".

Do you have a third party toolbar like Google, Yahoo or Windows Live installed try uninstalling that or updating it to the latest version.
