For those new and old users among use. It would be useful imho to have a thread on useful apps etc for the mac. (I couldnt find a previous thread on this so feel free to thrash if im wrong)

I was going to start with Stuffit as recommended from the .bin thread. Great app for unzipping files etc.

forgot to mention, there is a free download on their site.

You can't beat a bit of Roxio Toast for disc burning.

i switched from pc to mac just after christmas, never looked back! anyway, software i have and find useful:

appdelete - to uninstall programs and all other files to do with them
handbrake - converts DVDs to numerous formats (mp4, avi etc...) for storage on a hard drive
mac the ripper - for putting dvds on your hard drive in native format ready to burn over to blank dvds
roxio toast - dvd/cd burning software. can burn the files made with mac the ripper to dvd
azureus - for bittorrents
msn messenger for mac - msn messenger client. i have tried others but prefered this one.
vlc - plays most type of video
perian - plugin for quicktime to make it play loads of video files
neo office - free version of microsoft office
limewire mac
opera - great web browser
ffmpegx - multi format video converter and multi tool. can also extract audio from video files, join multiple vids together etc..
google earth
iAlertU - if u have a macbook/pro this is a great lil thing for showing off!!
senuti - for taking songs from ipod to mac.
stuffit - already mentioned by others, great program. like winzip but better!!

most of these are free programs as well, google them to downoad.

pear lyrics - shows lyrics for current itunes song
google search
wikipedia search
easy currency converter
flight tracker
istat pro

all the widgets from apple.com

then the real programs! i use photoshop and dreamweaver but u have to pay for these. most of the ones i have up there ^^ are free!
