    Hi all,

Common issue I suppose with Sky. I have received the first letter from Sky to connect my multi-room box to the phone line.

    2 Questions:

    1. Can you pay Sky something to waive this part of the contract for multi-room?

    2. I have no phone socket upstairs - does anybody know of a place where I can get a reasonably priced wireless phone socket?? Cheapest I am seeing is approx €100 and that's eBay

    Thanks,
    Keith.

should do what you want. Though it might be cheaper to run a wire!

I wasn't aware of this part of the contract when the tech arrived to install
my multiroom. So I told him there was no way I could put a phoneline in that
room, so what he did was he set up the second box so I could use it way
for 6 weeks before it'll check for the phoneline, giving me six weeks to get
    a phoneline in there.

Well that was over 2 months ago and nothing has stopped working as of yet
and I haven't put a phoneline in either. Now I don't really recommend you do
this.If theres someway to run a copper line in then do.

I've never had my first skybox connected to a phoneline either.

I got away with it for a year, then my subscription went from 70 Euro, to 120 until I installed the second line and they had confirmed dialbacks.

Same happened to me, my box wouldn't call back due to a fault. Sky wouldn't pay to have it fixed or replaced as my contract was up and i wouldn't pay out of stubborness because i felt they should.

If you tell them you want to cancel the multi-room part, then the Sky+ fee (which is waived when you choose multi-room) kicks in, which is almost the same cost as having 2 boxes but for 1.

You cant argue with the machine that is Sky, god knows i've tried. In the end i just put the slave box on freeview and got a viewing card from UK.
