Does anyone actually know what method the welfare dept use for calculating means? I have read the site over and over, all I want to know is what would you have to have coming in to be under the means allowed. for example, anyone with a famly income of over xxeuros a week wont be able to claim, instead they use some mad formula. I was on disablilty allowance before when I was single, but now live with partner who works. Does anyone know wot u can earn and still receive this benefit? I dont have enough prsi to receive any other disability benefits.

    er disability benefits.

Basically, your means cannot be equal to or greater than the rate payable for your family. In your case with your partner working (earnig over E280) this threshold would be E185.80 (the personal rate of your disability allowance).

I take it from the informatin given that your only income is from your partner's job. If your spouse earns over E280 gross per week, you will not receive a qualified adult increase for him. You would get a personal rate of E185.80 for yor self.

Your partner's earnings would be assessed as means against you as follows:
If her works 5 days a week, then E100 is taken off his weekly net income and the answer is halved because your partner is earning over E76.18 gross per week. The answer is deducted from your E185.80 (presuming you have no qualified adult) and you will receive the balance as your disability allowance each week.

If you spouse works 3 days or less a E50 disregard is taken off the weekly net income and the answer halved if the gross earnings of your spouse are greater than E76.18.

So if your spouse earns E450 gross, E430 net and works 5 days for example the means would be done as follows:

    E430 (net)- E100 (disregard for 5 days work) = E330 / 2 = E165

    E185.80
    - E165 (means from partners work)
E20.80 = Weekly disability allowance payment

can anyone kindly please explain to me what my situation will be, I am on disability allowance and so also is my partner, she has gone back to work on a rehabilitative permission from the dept working 10 hours a week, and earning 120 euros, all was fine until I stated work too few months ago earning 520 euros a week, now her allowance has been cut to 95 euros a week. why is this so, as she is getting her disability allowance in her own right. help explain why ?
    thanks

Her DA - which is a means tested payment - has presumably been reduced because the household income has increased. She should get/have got a letter from DSP explaining the calculations behind the reduction.

yes she got a letter explaining the situation, but i thought since she has her own disability, and was getting her payment in her own right, it should have been kept so, mine will be affected or stopped, but why her, it put huge pressure on the family now finance wise, we have got 3 kids

It's a means tested payment and you's both now have actual incomes it was always going to get cut based off that.

If my basic math is correct your still financially better off than 2 da payments

    That's hardly the DSP's fault!
